Although there are many aspects to consider when Role-Playing, the two forefront items are Character Creation, and Fighting. How you handle these aspects of the game, will greatly increase, or ruin your Role-Playing experience. As such, I will deal with each of these aspects separately. I would like to note that the issue of GodModing will come up in dealing with both. So at first I will give you a definition.

Godmoding:

Stemming from the game Doom, Godmoding means making your player invincible through magic or skill.
Examples of which are:
Never Taking hits.
Absorbing all hits taken.
Using extremely powerful magic.
Claiming to know if and where hits land on your enemy.
There are many others.
A general rule of thumb I like to remember, is that if my opponent takes a hit, I have to take one as well. Although most would disagree, wanting their characters to be as powerful as possible, making a character that can be hurt adds an entirely new dimension to the game. A realism which makes things much more fun and exciting.

Character Creation

When creating a character, it is extremely important to give yourself some guidelines. This is relatively simple. Ask yourself two basic questions.
What are my characters strengths?
What are my characters weaknesses?
After this you can let your imagination be your guide. Make a character as you would like to be, this works well for me. But remember; also try to make a character that you would enjoy Rping with. (Either fighting against, or allying with). This way you can make a fun character to play with, and others will enjoy the experience as much as you do. This makes for an overall enjoyable time for everyone, which of course draws more people into the site.

Learning how to Fight

Possibly the most rewarding experience of any RolePlay is the fighting. But it is also one of the easiest to corrupt, making it less desirable. A good way to enjoy the experience is to fight against your enemy as you would want him to fight against you. This way you can start appreciating where other RPers are coming from. Also, try not to loose your cool if you think you're opponent is Godmoding. Send him a friendly message; you'd be surprised how accommodating people can be. If all else fails, make an escape from the fight, and just don't fight with that person anymore. Eventually they will get the hint that they are doing something wrong, and they will change.

General Etiquette

A big part of enjoyment, especially for newer players, is the general chat etiquette. Try to get out and Rp with other people. Not just those in your group. You will be surprised how much fun you can have with a group of strangers. This will also keep new people coming and telling their friends, and our little community can grow, which is better for everyone. Another good point is to remember that 1 person can only RP with about 3 or 4 others successfully. When more and more people want in on the same storyline, things get confusing, messages get sent to the wrong people, and people tend to be ignored. If you find that four or five other people are working out a storyline together, and are tending to ignore you, don't yell and storm off, Just find some others with nothing to do, and start your own. You will find that these people will come to you when they are alone, and they will be at some point in time.
