We arrived in Frankfurt early one morning and departed late the next night. We stayed in an excellent hostel called the Stay and Learn. It is housing during the school year for people learning to speak English. There was free internet and the location was right next to the train/bus station.

The travel information people in this city need to be replaced. We visited two different tourism bureaus and both told us that there wasn't much to see in Frankfurt. They handed us the bus tour pamphlet and basically brushed us off. We decided to make our way to each of the bus tour highlights on our own. This kept us busy for our two days.

The one good thing the tourism lady did do was recommend an area to eat supper. It was called Old Sachsenhausen and it was perfect. The area was filled with German pubs and eatteries. It was all cobblestone streets and it looked like a huge Octoberfest celebration. I imagine it would be packed on the weekend.

We ate at a great restaurant. Proabably one of the best meals of our trip. Plus as you can see beers were large and plentiful.

Some of the sights we took in were the Goethe House (a famous romantic poet), the tower, the Euro info shop, the main shopping area, the Old Opera House and as usual lots of walking through the green spaces in Frankfurt.
