AMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS

Amsterdam is a unique place that can only be truly experienced by visiting it yourself. The Netherlands has legalized prostitution and some soft drug use. The Red Light District and Coffee Shops are big tourist attractions.

The canals are another amazing thing Amsterdam has to offer. They are more abundant than streets. People tour them in boats. Families relax in the evening with food and drink while cruising the city. Big tour boats also tour the canals. We were lucky enough to take a small non profit tour called the St Nicholas Boat Company. It was a perfect hour and a half.

There are 2500 house boats in the canals of Amsterdam. Some are in better condition than others. They are apparently trying to reduce the number of house boats to 2000 as they do fill the canals.

Although Amsterdam is famous for the rare things that are legal there is actually a lot of other cultural things to do. Amsterdam is home to the Van Gogh Museum, the Heineken Brewery and the Anne Frank House. We paid to tour the Heineken factory one morning. It was quite worth while as you make your money back in product.

We also toured the Anne Frank House. It has been kept in amazing condition and you can actually walk through the rooms the family hid in.
