Cut to More Fan Fiction

In 2003 a new Battlestar Galactica miniseries was launched. In a lot of ways it was totally different from the old favourite (with significant changes such as Starbuck being a girl), yet the basic story remained the same. And despite loyal fans denouncing it and refusing to watch, the new BSG was enough of a hit that it was commissioned into a new series the following year. It has since spawned spin-off movies and a prequel series Caprica.
