Ghost in Acapulco.
From: Zasraik | Posted: 9/7/2004 11:23:29 AM | Message Detail
Alright, back to scary pictures and videos :P

Calm me a wimp, but I didn't watch the finale of one of the videos. I didn't have the nerve to :). They were going to show a picture that had caused the disappearance of three different people who had looked at it. The story went like this. Someone walked into a convenience store with the picture and left it on the counter with the girl working there. The man who left it was never seen by his family again. The girl working there picked up the picture and after looking at it screamed and ran out of the store, she too was never seen again. The only other customer in the store picked it up, looked at it, and took it home to tell his family. The next day he disappeared.

There was a hunt for these people and the only trace was the shoes of the man who had last picked it up floating down a river. They still haven't been found to this day. The family submitted the picture to the production studio and it was put in the video. I didn't have the nerve to look at it so I decided not to watch it. Although, from time to time, I still want to know what was on that picture. Kinda like Pandora's Box, no?

BTW, to those who watch the American version Ringu, is the story plot the same as japanese version Ringu?

Same story, but the details're a lot different.

There was another disturbing picture, which I would probably pass off as bad film if it wasn't for a certain face. I believe it was taken in Tokyo, in front of a large office building late at night. Two women were leaving work and took a picture (I don't know why). What developed was quite strange. White, ethereal strands were wrapped around the woman's body, not quite touching her though. They were quite transparent. Like I said, I could just pass this off as bad film or something happening in the development process (not like I know alot about exposures and such). Just above the woman's right soldier, was the most evil looking human face I've seen laughing with all of those white strands connected to it.

No, I don't know the link. And I don't know if I want to search all ten billion hits that Google will no doubt give me if I search for it lol.

Check this out though. They're hand made, with the residue of all that hard work and perseverance people put into such things, and perhaps something not of this world . . .

Hmmm, did someone mention that they watched Ring 2? Have you, by any chance, watched a certain horror movie about a girl named Hanako? I believe the title would translate roughly to "Hanako, Toilet Girl." Yeah strange title but its a famous urban legend told by school girls that was made into a movie. It featured one of those dolls I was talking about

You see, in the school, the students heard of a Hanako rumor, about a young gal who is looking for her parents, but is later killed in the toilet by a brutal murderer.

Hence, they decide to investigate by summoning Hanako, using the spirit board.

Schoolgirls in Japan (my Mom told me this one, its been awhile though), if they believe in the story, don't stay in the bathroom alone, or stay too long, or else a girl named Hanako will come and get you. I remember something about a bloody hand too. Now you know why girls always go to the bathroom in pairs.

Anyway, in the movie I remember that whenever a girl would go to the bathroom, one of the stalls would open. They'd see something look out at them and faint, and other girls would find them unconscious with bruises I think. I remember one scene where the doll latches onto the back of a teacher and follows him home (No one else can see it). Then it scratches his eye out.

Do you remember how it was freed? Didn't they tear off the warding?

Yeah and the doll took the form of this girl, but it was really just a bunch of spirits that were in the doll.

The creepy thing about pictures of Japanese ghosts is they censor out the person's eyes with a black bar, it's kind of surreal. I think that's the word I'm looking for.

A bunch of students tear open the altar, and remove the seal lid, thus the doll escaped.

Yeah, I haven't watched it all the way through. And the spelling is "Poltergeist." That movie STILL scares the **** outta me.
Trivia: did you know that in the movie Ghostbusters, the name of the main ghostly villain, Gozer, was taken from the haunting that inspired the Poltergeist movie. It would be carved into the plaster of the walls, as people were watching, by invisible hands.

Trivia 2: did you know that a number of people involved in the making of Poltergeist died under mysterious circumstances? The last one was the girl who played Mary Ann, during the making of Poltergeist 3.

What else, what else . . .

Ah yes, in another video I watched they sort of reenacted what was a true story told by a woman. I can't say if it was true or not but it was interesting. Everyday this woman would cross the same bridge over a busy street on her way to work. It was a pretty busy bridge, and every day she would see the same guy looking down at the cars below in silence. No one else seemed to see him but her. He always wore the same suit and was always in the same position. Well, she consulted friends and they joked around that it might be the ghost of a man who was murdered there. To console the poor soul, she bought some flowers and a note. The next day she crossed that bridge with the gifts and there he was, consistent as always. She walked up to him and tried to talk to him, but he seemed to ignore her. She placed the gifts next to him and went to work.

That night, on her way home she noticed that someone was following her. It was that man on the bridge. He was trying to say something but couldn't seem to find the words. She ran through a tunnel and he cornered her in there. He bent down to talk to her and she started screaming when she saw why he couldn't speak, his entire tongue had been cut out.

Hey PeckingBird, you've probably watched that entire haunted school series, right? I liked the first few but I don't remember liking the last ones.

Anyway, heres a pretty popular folk story. It's about a blind man named Ho'Ichi who was a monk. Ho'Ichi was very skilled with the lute and often sang a ballad about a famous sea battle (there really was a sea battle that took place, but I think it may have been romanticized.) Anyway, in this sea battle the side with the infant emperor was losing, so all of the soldiers and the entire royal court committed ritualistic suicide, taking the child with them. Well, one day while he was out sweeping the temple courtyard he heard a man with a deep, gruff voice call out his name. Ho'Ichi looked in the direction of the voice and asked who was there. A samurai walked towards him and told him that a lady and her court wished to hear his ballad. Ho'Ichi, being the kind man that he was, agreed to let the samurai lead him away into the forest and to this woman's court.

When he arrived he was told to sit down and play his lute and sing his ballad. He sat down in the courtyard of a beautiful palace where a noble woman, her child, and all of her followers could watch him. He sang his song and received praise. The samurai led him back to the temple, asking him to do it again every night. This went on for days and the strain was beginning to show on Ho'Ichi. The other priests of the temple were beginning to wonder why Ho'Ichi, previously such a workaholic and a dutiful priest, was beginning to fall behind in his chores and other work. The head priest sent two men to follow Ho'Ichi and see what he did at night (they didn't need a priest that flirted with the ladies, now did they?).

They followed Ho'Ichi through the forest and found him sitting in a graveyard, singing his ballad. It was the graveyard where the people who had died in the sea battle were buried! Above Ho'Ichi, small flames floated above him (for those of you not in the know, a spirit is often depicted as a small, floating flame in Japan). The men panicked and dragged Ho'Ichi away from the gravesite, while Ho'Ichi begged them to let him return to the palace. More in the next post.

The men talked to he head priest and worried about Ho'Ichi's sanity and his life. The head priest warned that one night the ghosts might decide to keep him their for eternity as their slave. When Ho'Ichi heard this, he begged for help. The head priest ordered Ho'Ichi to strip his clothes and had one of the men write small symbols all over his body. With those symbols on his body, Ho'Ichi would remain unseen by the ghosts if he was alone and prayed for the runes to work. If he didn't, the runes would fail and Ho'Ichi would be lost forever

That night the other priests left Ho'Ichi alone in a room, and left him praying. If he prayed with conviction, he would be saved and never bothered again. Ho'Ichi heard the samurai walking around in the courtyard outside. "Ho'Ichiii!" the man called. Ho'Ichi heard the door to his room slide open and heard the man step inside. "Ho'Ichi, where are you?" The man asked. He walked around the room but, alas, could not see Hoichi. Unfortunately for Ho'Ichi, his friend had forgotten to cover one spot, his ears. "Ah, all that is left of Ho'Ichi is his ears, poor man." the ghost said. The ghost reached for Ho'Ichi's ears and tore them off, then disappeared.

The other priests ran into Ho'Ichi's room and found him rolling on the floor, holding what was left of his ears. Ho'Ichi still played beautifully after that, and other nobles came to hear Ho'Ichi the Earless play.

Classic story.
