Golf Classic
History
The Hidden Valley Closed Golf Classic was begun in
1994 by a group of skiers at the Hidden Valley Ski Resort
who did not want to see the ski season end, and who
wished to extend the association with ski buddies by
holding a golf outing. Friends from Mountain Creek and
others who enjoyed having fun were invited to join in.

The format of the outing, a scramble featuring teams
requiring the participation of a female golfer on each team
was adopted to encourage the participation of friends who
had limited golf skill and to include wives, girlfriends and
female ski buddies in the event.

This decision has resulted in getting many of our female ski
buddies to play in the HV Closed and introduced to the fun
game of golf. Buffy and John Whiting have assumed the task
of organizing the event. A tradition has been established that
has the winning teams each year donate their prize money to
support ski racing and area ski racers.

Over the years the event has donated thousand dollars which
has been used to purchase race timing equipment, a radar
speed gun and other equipment to support the ski racing
program.

However the primary purpose of the HV Closed Golf Classic is
to practice Rule #1 "Have FUN!"

Note: The 2009 Hidden Valley Closed contributed $390 to the Hidden Valley Alpine Racing Association in the name of the Hidden Valley Closed Golf Classic and Matt McDermott. This represents the prize money donated by the top three finishing teams in the 2009 15th Annual Hidden Valley Closed Golf Classic.
