2003
AWBL All-Stars
The 2003 AWBL All-Star team was selected by a
combination of three sets of votes. Voting pools included the players,
fans, and president. Player voting accounted for 75% of All-Star
selections, presidential vote accounted for 15%, and fan voting accounted for
10%. Ten All-Stars were chosen this year, three fielders for each team
along with a pitcher and designated hitter. The All-Star game will take
place Saturday, May 10th, at 12:00 PM ET and will be followed by the 2003
Homerun Derby. The Derby will include anyone on a roster who is present
and willing to participate. Without further adieu, your 2003 All-Stars:

|
Marc Lantz -
Lantz will surprisingly be a first time All-Star in 003. Lantz is the no
brain MVP for the first half of the season. He is impossible to get out
and is on pace to break a handful of records with ease. He has also made
amazing plays in the field throughout the first half.

OF
|
Adam Miloser -
Miloser will make his second All-Star appearance in his three year career after
tying for first in player voting with Lantz and Troupe. He has been the
most productive player for Team Barilar and has been their only offensive power
source at times during the first half. He has also been a quality pitcher
drawing comparisons to his '01 form.

A.J. Gillung -
Gillung is the only rookie to have been selected to this year's All-Star
game. A.J. has surprised everyone with his numbers at the plate. He,
along with Matt Dinger, have carried Team Guidash to where they are now in the
standings. Gillung could break Ronnie Walker's records for most productive
season by a rookie.

Ronnie Walker -
Walker has not been a standout player like last year when he won the MVP award,
but will make still make his second consecutive All-Star appearance.
Carried mostly by popularity from last season, Walker was the last player to be
named an All-Star this year. Despite less notoriety, Walker has put up
solid numbers and still belongs on the team this year.

|
Adam Beveridge -
Adam Beveridge will finally make his long awaited first All-Star game appearance
this year. Beveridge has been the most solid pitcher this season, as he
predicted himself, and has lead Team Smacker to four victories in all four of
his starts. Beveridge has struggled at the plate but has more than made up
for that at the mound. He received the top number of votes among pitchers.

Team Red

|
Joey Troupe
- Troupe will make his third consecutive All-Star appearance this year.
Troupe tied for first in player voting and carried Team Walker during the first
half of the season. He is on pace to break Andy Divelbiss's homerun record
of 38 and is having career highs in RBIs and batting average, despite struggling
at the mound so far.
|
OF
|
Kyle Means -
Means will make his third consecutive All-Star appearance. He leads the
league in RBIs and has taken full advantage of the many times he has come to the
plate with runners at base. Means has crushed the ball and has been
dominant on the mount, going undefeated until Week 5. He has lead Team
Smacker to first place at the break.
|
OF
|
Kyle Barilar
- Barilar also makes his third consecutive All-Star appearance mainly due to fan
voting. Except for week 5, Barilar has played below his typical
standards. He is known to be a second half player though and could emerge
after the break. Despite playing worst than usual, Barilar is still near
the top in a few statistical categories. Player voting also helped Barilar
though, possibly because of his past success.
|
DH
|
Travis Harp -
Harp, who went undrafted, finished ninth in player voting and will be a first
time All-Star. Harp has been the most consistent player for Team Barilar,
which has struggled this season. Harp has also pitched well. His
extra-base hits have been the catalyst to most of Team Barilar's offense this
season.

|
Matt Dinger -
Dinger will be making his second consecutive All-Star appearance. Dinger
finished seventh in player voting. He is currently on an offensive tear
that began in week 3. His pitching and high batting average and extra-base
hits have helped Team Guidash exceed preseason expectations.
