Australia

Australia is not only a continent but also a very beautiful country. It has a population of about 19 million with per capita GDP of US$19,290 (1998). Australian dollar (*A$) is the local currency and US$1 = A$1.9 approx. Total area of the country is 7,682,300 sq. Km. Canberra is the Capital city. English is the official language.

Courses Offered: A very large No. of courses are offered from Australia at Grade 11 & 12, foundation, certificate (1 year), undergraduate diploma (2 years) bachelor (3-4 years), postgraduate diploma (1 year) and  master levels (1-1/2 years). Some of the most popular courses of Australia are: Business Administration, Computer Sciences, Hotel Management, Commerce, Information Technology, ELICOS, Engineering and many more. Medium of instruction is English for all courses.

Average Fees: Per year average fees for undergraduate courses vary from AD8,000 to AD10,000 and for bachelor degrees it is around AD12,000 and for master degree it varies from AD16,000 to AD 24,000. Each academic year has two semesters. Before going there you have to deposit fee for one year.

Living: Per month living (food & Accommodation) can cost you from A$450 to A$750 on average. 

Admission Requirements: Metric for Grade 11, Intermediate for undergraduate courses and a master degree (or a 4-year bachelor degree) for admission in a master degree along with proof of English proficiency. Usually “B” grade is preferred for direct admission in degree courses. 

Intakes: February & July. For some undergraduate courses there are also intakes in January, April, September and December.

Visa: The main student visa requirements of the Embassy include; an admission letter for a diploma or higher level course, proof of sound financial background of the student’s sponsor, IELTS score of band 6 and a good academic background without any big gaps.
