Early career

Chan began training initially with Jon Z, and made his debut in December of 2004 on the independent scene. After Jon left the country, Nykk and Ronin Fox took over his training. Chan worked the independents for the first year and a half of his career, gaining experience.

Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2006-2012)

Stage One

Chan debuted alongside Ryan Saito on the talk segment the David Caldwell Project on the May 17, 2006 episode of Go Time. After Joey Sprinklers was fed up with host David Caldwell's barbs, Sprinklers accosted him, only to be attacked by Chan and Saito. Caldwell introduced them as his new bodyguards and dubbed them Stage One. This led to a match between them and Sprinklers and his partner, Matt Sydal at Punked Out, in which Stage One picked up the win. Chan and Saito worked their way up the ranks and it wasn't long before the received a shot at the MECCA Tag Team Championship. They faced champions The Pyro Twins at Liberty or Death, but were unable to win the belts.

Later that summer, Caldwell would purchase Nykk's shares of MECCA, thus becoming co-owner along with Katie Piehl. Caldwell unveiled his plan for the company over the next few weeks, which involved turning the company into a sports entertainment-oriented product like WWE rather than the athletic action-based company it had been built as. Caldwell formed The David Caldwell Project in order to enforce his vision, which Chan became part of. At At Your Own Risk, Stage One gained a victory over a new team called The Surgeons with the help of fellow Project member Dreamo and a loaded pillowcase. Caldwell made the rematch at No Regrets into an Anything Goes match, but Katie Piehl retaliated by adding the stipulation that Stage One would have to split up if they lost. The Surgeons won the match, and Caldwell blamed Saito. After the match, Caldwell fired Saito from the David Caldwell Project and Chan helped beat down his own partner.

The David Caldwell Project

Chan would continue to support the David Caldwell Project as a singles wrestler, including participating as a judge during a round of Caldwell's pet project the Bikini Quest. As the war with Katie Piehl's loyalists heated up, an Ultimate MECCA Challenge was booked for The MECCA Challenge III on April 28, 2007. Chan was part of Caldwell's team, which also included Bryan Danielson, Huh, Concession Boy, and Dreamo. Piehl's team consisted of Nykk, Kevin Stone, Low Ki, and The Killer Kanines. Chan lasted a long time during the match, but was eliminated when Danielson turned against the Project by shaking a ladder Chan was standing on, causing him to fall off and take Stone's Stone Cutter through a table. This led to Piehl's team winning the match, and afterward Caldwell was put out of MECCA when he took an Aurora Driver from Nykk. Later that night, Nykk, Ronin Fox, and Lisa Letty would form The House of Lords. They laid waste to the roster, and on the next Go Time added Cynric to their ranks. Chan confronted them, along with stablemates Concession Boy and Dreamo, unhappy about what Nykk had done to their boss. They challenged them to a six-man tag, but the House of Lords proved too much for them and soundly defeated the remnants of the David Caldwell Project.

Directionless

Chan dropped down the card as the House of Lords took power, mostly wrestling matches on the Rundown Internet show, and occasionally teaming with Dreamo after Concession Boy left the company. On the July 18 episode of Go Time Chan defeated Delirious, his biggest win in months. This impressed Nykk enough to offer Chan a bribe to take out Austin Lee at Liberty or Death if he stuck his nose in House of Lords business. Sure enough, Lee interfered in Nykk's match, which prompted Chan to come out and attack him. Nykk made a match between them immediately, but Chan lost to Lee. Chan was encouraged by the experience, and began taking matches against MECCA's top wrestlers. At Scared Stiff he surprised everyone by winning the annual Stiff Strike Challenge by getting the pin on Kevin Stone, who had won the match for the past two years. Chan continued to take on MECCA's top guys, and though he wasn't victorious, he seemed to get better with every match. After losing a match to Kevin Stone, Chan attacked him with a kendo stick to ensure he would request a rematch. He got his rematch with Stone at Ignition in an Anything Goes match. In a scary incident, Chan was dropped on his head with a sleeper suplex, leading to a Stone victory. However, the fans began to respect Chan for the punishment he was taking and he started hearing some cheers. On the February 6, 2008 episode of Go Time, Tristan Lee took notice of his talents. Lee, who had been feuding with The Consulate since turning down a contract offer from Prince Nana, asked Chan to be his tag partner against them at Bloody Valentine. Chan accepted, but turned against Lee during the match, revealing that Nana had approached him after Lee turned him down. Chan also raised a few eyebrows later in the night by lasting until the end of the annual Six Man Apocalypse before Anubis beat him to win the match.

The Consulate

Joining the Consulate immediately paid dividends for Chan, who beat Lee at Melee. He went on to win the 16-man Battlebrawl match at The MECCA Challenge IV, surprising Bryan Danielson with a quick pinning combination immediately after he had eliminated The Necro Butcher. Danielson got Chan one on one at New Dawn and picked up the win, but Chan and the Consulate attacked him after the match. Chan got another cheap pin on Danielson at Punked Out when they were on opposite sides of Eight-Man Throwdown, stealing the pin on him from teammate Jay Briscoe. The two met to settle the score in a Falls Count Anywhere Match at Summertime Showdown in Las Vegas. Danielson picked up the victory in a match that went out into the arena, the streets, and even a casino.

The Consulate continued to vie for titles, as well as feud with MECCA's other factions such as Luchacore throughout the fall. In December, Katie Piehl announced there would be a Round Robin Faction War beginning in 2009. The matches would be randomize elimination matches from singles to eight-man tags, and the surviving participants would earn points for their team. When all the match-ups were done, the three lowest scoring factions would be forced to split up. The two highest scoring factions would go on to The MECCA Challenge V to compete in one more elimination match with guaranteed title shots for all participants on the line. The Consulate got off to a rough start when Chan, The Wild Wolf, and Yoshiaki Yago lost to The House of Lords in a six-man tag on Go Time's fourth anniversary. The Consulate rebounded when they faced Huh's Hot Dogs at Ignition in an eight-man tag, completely sweeping their opponents and taking a commanding lead. Chan would extend that lead further when Chan was the sole survivor of a six-man tag match against Luchacore. This was enough to secure their spot at the MECCA Challenge, but Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon eventually manged to tie their score, making them the surviving factions. The two teams met in a ten-man elimination tag match at the MECCA Challenge. EEE won the match after getting Prince Nana alone in the ring, though the rest of the Consulate attempted to interfere.

Chan rebounded by winning the MECCA Tag Team Championship along with Alan Mayse on the May 6 episode of Go Time. The successfully defended the belts over the next few months against teams like Austin and Tristan Lee and The Briscoes. Their reign suffered a hiccup when they lost the belts to Irish Airborne on the July 22 edition of Go Time, but they won them back five weeks later at Summertime Showdown. They feuded with the Briscoes again, putting them out of MECCA after winning a No DQ Match at At Your Own Risk. However, they lost the tag belts to The Creation several weeks later on Go Time.

At this point, Chan seemed to be outgrowing the Consulate. He made some noise about going after the MECCA World Championship, but Nana was adamant about keeping him in a team with Mayse. A frustrated Chan won the Stiff Strike Challenge once again at Scared Stiff, turning against stablemate the Wild Wolf after it seemed like they would take a tie win for the most strikes within the time limit. Chan wanted to get on the Contender Star, but it came out that World Champion Anubis, who had been paying Nana for the use of his clients throughout his long title reign, had insisted that Nana keep his guys away from the title picture as part of the deal. Chan decided to get on the Contender Star anyway, and did so by defeating Dusty Schneble at No Regrets. This created dissension with Nana, and raised the ire of Anubis. However, Nana became conflicted, as Chan winning the title would mean he would be manager of the World Champion. He helped Chan win a number one contender's match, despite Chan wanting nothing to do with him, and Chan declared his intention to leave the Consulate. Nana revealed that Chan was still under contract with him until February, which allowed Nana to come to ringside during Chan's title match with Anubis at End of the Line. Nana inadvertently caused Chan to lose after he came closer than anyone to ending Anubis's nearly two year title reign. Chan won the right to a rematch on the next Go Time for Ignition, where he revealed that Katie Piehl had banned Nana and any of his associates from ringside. After a very hard fought match, Chan pinned Anubis to become the new World Champion.

Instant Legend

Chan was elated to win the World Title, but still faced the problem of being part of the Consulate until February. Incensed that Nana hadn't managed to keep his guys away from the title, Anubis told Nana that he owed him a big one. He got his favor on Go Time: Championship Edition when Chan was forced to team with Mayse to go for the tag titles even though he had a rematch with Anubis for the World Title in the main event scheduled. The tag title opportunity turned out to be a ruse as Nana and Mayse attacked Chan, injuring his ankle. Despite this Chan appeared in the main event, though he was far from one hundred percent. Anubis just managed to lock in his finisher when the TV time limit expired, saving Chan's title. Anubis demanded another shot at the title since Chan never beat him, and got it at Six-Man Melee. Katie Piehl declared that this match would also have a twenty minute time limit due to the Six-Man Melee being scheduled for a big chunk of time every year on the PPV. With a few minutes to go, Anubis made a mistake in trying to wrap up the match, and Chan beat him with a quick pinfall. Later in the night, Alan Mayse won the Six-Man Melee to get a shot at the World Title at The MECCA Challenge VI, putting he and Chan on a collision course. In order to fight back against Mayse's deadly Anklebreaker submission, Chan announced he had a hold of his own to counteract it, which he debuted to win a title match against Jay Crowe on the March 24 Go Time. When they met at the MECCA Challenge, Chan beat Mayse in the main event after making him tap out to the Chan Lock II. Nana got involved afterward, and Chan laid him out and buried him under the Ghanaian flag, ending the Consulate.

Chan's next challenger would be Ryan Andrews, who was the one challenger Chan had faced so far and been unable to beat clean. Chan was injured in May, but showed up at New Dawn so he would not have to forfeit the title to Andrews and beat him in a No DQ match. Unfortunately, Chan was reinjured during the match and was out for several weeks. In the meantime, Alan Mayse had earned a rematch and had acquired Dave Prazak as his new manager. The duo's arrangement was fruitful, as Mayse captured the championship from Chan at Punked Out after interference from Prazak. Chan got his rematch in a Last Man Standing match at Never Day Die, again due to interference from Prazak. With his shots at the World Title exhausted, Chan turned his attention to becoming a triple crown champion. He won a Gauntlet Royale at Summertime Showdown for a shot at the Toughman Title, but was unable to win it in the following weeks. After Mayse lost the World Title at the same event, they met one more time at At Your Own Risk, with Chan beating Mayse in his last MECCA match.

Chan entered into a feud with his old stablemate Robbie Reno, who had become jealous of the success Chan had attained since the end of the David Caldwell Project. Chan won their match at Scared Stiff, but Reno attacked him after the decision. The rematch took place on the next Go Time, with Reno getting the upset win after resorting to cheap tactics. The rubber match took place at No Regrets, with Chan beating his old stablemate once again. Reno again attacked Chan on the next Go Time, this time with help from his new partner Ares. Chan looked for a tag team partner to face them, and chose Marcus Kavian after he made the save for Chan on another attack from Ares and Reno. The four met at End of the Line, but Ares and Reno cheated to pull off the victory. Chan and Kavian won the rematch on the next Go Time, and Chan finally ended the feud by beating Ares at Ignition.

Into Darkness

Chan was finally free to concentrate on regaining the title, but a problem reared itself when the leader of The Absence of Light and World Champion, Jimmy Jacobs, decided he would no longer defend the World Title. He claimed to be able to do this and not be stripped of the title, looking to damage MECCA beyond repair by taking away its top prize. Chan was amongst a number of former champions who tried to take him out because of this. Nonetheless, the Six-Man Melee match was still held as usual to determine the main event of the MECCA Challenge, with the guaranteed title shot up in the air. To prevent anyone from challenging him for the title, Jacobs and his minions targeted Chan in particular, knowing he was a major threat. Despite this, Chan won the match at Six-Man Melee, but not the title shot. Over the next few weeks, he tried to goad Jacobs into defending the title, but was attacked by bounty hunter Jimmy Rave, who had been hired by Jacobs. Jacobs stated that if Chan could beat Rave at Kick Start, he would put the title on the line at The MECCA Challenge VII. However, Rave won the match after interference from Jacobs. Chan still did what he could to make Jacobs defend the title, including attacking his minions and threatening to end their careers, but Jacobs wouldn't budge. Chan finally dressed up as one of his "faceless entities" who Jacobs thought he was making a token title defense against, and Chan revealed himself, running Jacobs off. With only three days left until the MECCA Challenge and no defense for the month, Jacobs was finally forced to put the belt on the line. Chan pinned Jacobs to win the match and become a two-time champion.

Chan still had to contend with the Absence of Light, several of whom had won guaranteed title shots as a result of winning the Trios Tag League tournament. Chan beat Torea on the next Go Time, and beat the Wild Wolf, Jimmy Rave, and Jimmy Jacobs in a Four Corners match at New Dawn. Dusty Schneble was the next man to challenge him, and vowed to hand the title back over to Jacobs if he won. However, Chan beat him as well at Punked Out. On the next Go Time, it was revealed that Chan would put together a team to face the Absence of Light in the Perimeter of Pain at Summertime Showdown. In the meantime, Chan had to contend with his old rival Ryan Andrews, who had won a shot at the World Title by winning Eight-Man Throwdown. Chan retained the title at Never Say Die, and set about choosing his team for Summertime Showdown. He picked Eddie Crowe, the Wild Wolf, Ronin Fox and Gran Akuma for his team and they clashed with the Absence of Light several times over the next few weeks. After a title defense on August 17, Katie Piehl approached Chan about putting his title on the line in the Perimeter of Pain. If he lost, the title would return to Jacobs, but if his team won, she and Jacobs would leave MECCA for good. Chan accepted and at Summertime Showdown his team defeated Jacobs, Dusty, Torea, Dreggs, and Jimmy Rave in the Perimeter of Pain, with Chan as the sole survivor.

Moving On

On September 7, Chan was confronted by Team MECCA member Eddie Crowe, who challenged him to a title match at At Your Own Risk. Chan accepted the challenge, but was interrupted by Nykk, who had returned earlier that night as a new commentator. He said he was getting into management and that he had already signed his first client, which was the World Champion Jamie Chan. Chan denied this, but when he confronted Nykk, Eddie attacked him from behind. Eddie and Nykk beat down Chan, revealing that it was Eddie who was Nykk's first client. They would continue to ambush Chan and put the pressure on him over the next several weeks until Chan snapped on September 21, taking it to Eddie and Nykk in their own dressing room. Chan beat down Eddie in a brawl that spilled out into the hallway and parking lot, with Eddie finally managing to get away in his rental car. This prompted the board of directors to declare that if Chan was disqualified in his match against Eddie at the pay-per-view, he would lose his championship. During the title match, Nykk brought a chair to the ring, which Chan got a hold of. When the ref tried to take it away, Eddie attacked Chan from behind, causing him to shove the ref down with the chair. The ref disqualified Chan and he lost the title. Enraged, Chan superkicked the official after the bell. The board of directors fined him and stated he would not get an immediate rematch as a result of his actions. Chan then formed a brief team with his former Consulate stablemate, the Wild Wolf. They were unsuccessful, and each man blamed the other for their losses. This led to a match at Scared Stiff, which Chan won, and he and Wolf were able to part on good terms. Chan finally got his rematch against Eddie for the World Title on the November 9 episode of Go Time, but lost after passing out in Eddie's submission hold.

Chan laid low for a few weeks, and was then confronted by his old friend and rival Tristan Lee in December. Tristan was looking to move up the ranks and wanted to go for Chan's spot on the Contender Star. Chan accepted the match, and beat Tristan at End of the Line, shaking his hand afterward. Chan and Tristan then ran afoul of the upstart faction The Near Future in January, and teamed up to face Aaron Glover and Terrence Bolton in a losing effort at Ignition. Due to Eddie Crowe being the World Champion and having the best win/loss record of 2011, it was decided that he would defend his belt in a Four Corners Match against the next three men on the list on Go Time: Championship Edition on January 29. Chan, Anubis, and Marcus Kavian met Crowe, but eventually it was Chan who was pinned by the champ. Chan continued to feud with the Near Future, but was unable to get the best of them. At The MECCA Challenge VIII, Chan entered the 12-Man Battlebrawl. He was the last man eliminated, being pinned by winner Ryan Andrews.

Departure

Chan's contract with MECCA was ending at the end of May, and he decided to leave MECCA to pursue other opportunities. His last appearance was on the May 23 episode of Go Time, where he was pinned in a six-man tag team match against the Near Future. He was beaten down after the match in order to lure Anubis out to the ring, and it was reported on the MECCA website that Chan was out indefinitely due to injuries sustained.
