Professional wrestling career

Early career

Kevin Stone began to train in 2001 under Jon Z, a college classmate of his friends Ronin Fox and Jay Crowe, who had recently started training. Stone debuted in the winter of 2001 and worked various independents for the next year and a half.

Future Pay-Per-View Wrestling (2003-2005)

The Beginning

In July of 2003, Jon Z started his own promotion Future Pay-Per-View Wrestling. Stone was hired, and was booked on the first FPPVW show, Premiere Showcase. He competed in a battle royale, but was eliminated by Alan Mayse and Dusty Schneble. Stone appeared at the next monthly show, Shut Up and Wrestle, teaming with Joey Sprinklers to defeat The Eccentrics. Stone and Joey quickly joined forces with Nykk and Vix, forming the Heel Stable. Stone proved his worth by helping Nykk with the FPPVW Championship from Alan Mayse at Bloodbath. He continued backing Nykk up throughout the later part of the year, but was not around when Nykk lost the title back to Mayse at Darkest Night. Stone realized he had let his leader down and wanted to make it up to him. He amassed a bit of a winning streak with victories over Cynric and Aki Mann in early 2004. However, after losing to Concession Boy III on January 23, Stone got into a shouting match with Nykk over him sending Joey out to interfere. Nykk told Stone to make a choice, and he attacked Nykk, prompting a beatdown by the Heel Stable.

Stone was out of action for a few months, but returned on April 2, attacking Joey Sprinklers during his match. He defeated Swinger in his return to singles action, and set his sights on the Heel Stable. After beating Joey at WrestlingRevolution in May, Stone went after Nykk, who was licking his wounds after losing his feud against Ronin Fox. They met at Sunstroke, with Stone picking up the win over his former boss. As the summer wore on, Stone then formed a team with Cynric, but they were unable to win the tag belts from the Pyro Twins at Breakout. He continued teaming with Cynric, picking up a win over Chris Stylez and Johnny Kashmere at Bloodbath. At November Pain, they won a tag team battle royale at the beginning of the show to earn a shot at the Pyro Twins' tag titles later on. However, they were once again unsuccessful. At the beginning of 2005, Stone was set to compete in the Road to the Revolution Tournament, but the promotion went dark shortly after it commenced.

On May 15, the employees of RCW held one last show, WrestlingRevolution II to tie up loose ends for the promotion. Stone teamed with Alan Mayse to defeat Black Blade and Bluejay in a tag team match.

Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2005-2008)

Frustration

Stone was brought into MECCA by his partner Cynric to help in his feud against SELF. Cynric also brought in Amazing Red at the same time, but the trio lost to Eddie Crowe and the Pyro Twins at the first MECCA Challenge on April 30. Cynric and Stone continued to team afterward, amassing some victories and coming into contention for the MECCA Tag Team Championship, held by The UK Wrecking Crew. They were set for their shot at Midsummer Night Slam, but Cynric also won a shot at the MECCA Championship, and was forced to choose. Cynric chose to go for the singles title, and Stone picked Alan Mayse to replace him in their team. They were unsuccessful in their match, but Stone and Cynric received their shot as a team on July 5, but lost after Cynric accidentally nailed Stone. He apologized afterward, but Stone turned on him and laid him out in the ring.

Cynric was understandably upset, but Kevin seemed to have turned a corner, showing a more vicious side. After winning a match against Joey Sprinklers, Stone continued to brutalize him until Cynric made the save. That led to a match at Liberty or Death, which Stone won after using a chair to his advantage. They faced off again on the next episode of Go Time, with the match being thrown out after a wild brawl. Stone brutalized Cynric after the match, as well as Ronin Fox and several officials. When MECCA co-owner Katie Piehl tried to intervene, Stone gave her a Stone Cutter on the entrance stage, leading to her hospitalization. Stone was sent home to cool off the next week, and Cynric challenged him to an Anything Goes match at Summer Showdown. Stone won the match after nearly strangling Cynric with his own nunchukus. He went on to receive his first shot at the MECCA Championship at At Your Own Risk in September, competing against Cynric, Alan Mayse, and the champion Nykk. He lost the match, but did not take the fall. In October, Stone volunteered to be a part of the first Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff. He competed against Dusty Schneble, Joey Sprinklers, Low Ki and won after connecting with the most strikes within the time limit.

Stone then entered a feud with The Eccentric Alliance after they made him look like a fool. He ran through all of them, culminating in a victory over Cheesecake at No Regrets, earning a title shot. On December 7, he defeated Nykk to win the MECCA Championship on Go Time. They met in a rematch at New Year's Knockout, which Stone also won. His next challenger was Cynric, who had earned his way back into contention by winning a Supernova Spectacle. Their match at Snowed In ended in controversy, as Stone supposedly tapped to Cynric's submission hold, but the match was restarted when Stone claimed he was reaching for the ropes, not tapping. Stone went on to retain the title. In February, Eddie Crowe managed to win a title shot against Stone at The MECCA Challenge II. After five months of running through all his challengers, Stone finally dropped the title to Eddie on April 29. Stone received his rematch at Midsummer Night Slam two months later, but was unable to defeat Eddie. From there, Stone set his sights on the Toughman Championship, held by Alan Mayse. They went to a no-contest at Summertime Showdown, but Mayse won the rematch a couple of weeks later on Go Time.

Stone once again entered the Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff, beating Cynric, Low Ki and Jamie Chan to win it for the second year in a row. Low Ki took exception to this, and they met at No Regrets, with Stone pinning Ki clean. The two shook hands after the match, and Stone seemed to have another change of attitude. He reconciled with Nykk at some point, and came out to help him in his battle against Ronin Fox and Cynric on the next Go Time. He and Nykk would beat Fox and Cynric in tag team action at New Year's Knockout, and would get drawn into the struggle against The David Caldwell Project via his association with Nykk. He teamed with Cynric, Fox, and Eddie Crowe to take them on in an eight-man elimination tag, but soon found himself in a three on one situation when his team disintegrated around him. Stone was able to defeat Jamie Chan, but was immediately struck by a chair from Kishi Fatu, disqualifying him but allowing his teammate Bryan Danielson to score the pin. Stone also competed in the Six-Man Apocalypse match at Bloody Valentine for a shot at the MECCA Championship at The MECCA Challenge III. He lasted all the way until the end, but Ronin Fox pinned him to win the match. Stone continued his battle against the David Caldwell Project, but was upset by Huh at Melee in an Anything Goes match. With things coming to a head between the MECCA competitors, led by co-owner Katie Piehl, and David Caldwell Sports Entertainment, they agreed to settle things at the MECCA Challenge III in an Ultimate MECCA Challenge match. Stone was picked by team captain Nykk to compete, along with Low Ki and The Killer Kanines. Stone was the sole survivor of the match, lasting until the end and beating Huh to win the match.

Anti-Lord

The same night, Nykk and Lisa Letty would form an alliance with Ronin Fox after the main event, and laid waste to the MECCA roster when they took all company power. They dubbed themselves The House of Lords, and revealed that the David Caldwell Project had been a ruse that had gotten out of hand, with the intent always being to get power away from Piehl and Caldwell and back into Nykk's hands. Their ranks quickly grew to include Joey Sprinklers, Huh, and Cynric. Stone took exception to being used and went after Joey's Toughman Title, but Joey lost it to Low Ki before their match at New Dawn, but Stone beat him anyway. Stone then won a Supernova Spectacle on June 13 for a shot at the World Title at Punked Out. He faced champion Ronin Fox after interference from the House of Lords. Katie Piehl made her return around this time and revealed the board of directors had appointed her the new authority in MECCA. She booked a Best of Three tag team series for Liberty or Death, with the winning side getting to book the House of Lords' matches for Summertime Showdown. Stone teamed with Danielson to defeat Huh and Joey Sprinklers, and the MECCA loyalists went on to win the series. Danielson and Stone were then booked to face the Pyro Twins for the tag belts at Summertime Showdown, but were not successful.

Stone once again competed in the Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff against Nykk, Austin Lee and Jamie Chan. Stone seemed to be on the way to winning via most strikes, but Chan scored the upset pin on him at the last minute before the time limit expired. With things coming to a head between the MECCA loyalists and the House of Lords, Katie Piehl proposed a Best of Five series for End of the Line, with the winning side gaining full control of the company. Stone went up against Nykk, who had never been able to beat him in RCW or MECCA. However, Nykk came out on top on this night, though MECCA would go on to win the series. Stone went for some payback against Jamie Chan at Ignition, winning after brutally dropping him on his head and knocking him out. After the match, he was attacked by a man from the audience who turned out to be The Necro Butcher. Stone called him out on January 30, but Necro didn't show up. Stone came back later and called him out again, and this time Necro emerged from under the ring and attacked Stone again. They met under relaxed rules at Bloody Valentine, with Stone getting the pin. They would both go on to compete in the Six-Man Apocalypse match later, with Necro eliminating Stone. He would go on to Melee to team with Danielson in a tag team Gauntlet match for a shot at the titles. They defeated The Surgeons, but lost to the Pyro Twins in the next matchup.

Stone competed in the first 16-man Battlebrawl at The MECCA Challenge IV, but was eliminated by Necro. The two men met on the next Go Time in a No Holds Barred match, with Necro picking up the win. World Champion Anubis came out to save Stone from The Consulate, returning a favor from earlier, but Stone blasted him with a chair. Stone reminded Anubis that he had won a shot at the title a few weeks prior before exiting the arena. Stone explained the next week that being a nice guy had never gotten him anywhere, but the MECCA Monster had a dominant reign as MECCA Champion to his credit. He challenged Anubis to meet him at New Dawn, and the challenge was accepted. Anubis defeated Stone at the event, retaining his title. Afterward, Stone decided to leave MECCA and pursue other opportunities.

Return

Over seven years later, Stone would make his return to MECCA. At Scared Stiff on October 24, 2015, Fenris was set to compete in the annual Stiff Strike Challenge, but was found unconscious in the back. MECCA Authority Cynric put his unseen assailant into the match as his replacement, and it turned out to be Kevin Stone. He went on to win the match, as well as a singles match on the following episode of Go Time. Afterward, Stone stated he wasn't back to shake hands or take cheapshots, but because of his son, who had become a MECCA fan, and he wanted to show him what his father could do in the ring.
