Professional wrestling career
Early career
Tristan Lee began training initially in his home country of England, before following in his older brother's footsteps and moving to the United States to pursue his dream of performing at wrestling's highest level. He settled in the Ohio Valley area, working independents and receiving additional training at the MECCA Training Camp.
Modern Establishment of Competitive Combat Arts (2006-present)
Debut
Tristan debuted on the November 8, 2006, episode of Go Time. Bryan Danielson had decided in order to get another title shot against Eddie Crow he needed to start at the bottom of the roster and work his way up. The previous week he had beaten a training camp student, and on this night he picked the brand new Tristan Lee as his opponent. Danielson made short work of him, but Tristan showed potential in his first outing. His next match was against Cheesecake on Go Time's second anniversary show, and Tristan scored the victory. The next week, he came out to help The UK Wrecking Crew, Andy Nathans and Jack Fletcher, lay a beating on Delirious and The Human Tornado. They soon added female competitor Nikki Chandler to their ranks and the UK Wrecking Crew went from being a tag team to a faction. They cemented their decision by defeating Delirious, Tornado and Matt Sydal in a six-man tag at Snowed In. They would continue to feud with Sydal during the winter months, and also developed an issue with The Surgeons. They beat Sydal and the Surgeons in a six-man tag at The MECCA Challenge III in April. The women then got involved in their affairs and the trio teamed with Nikki Chandler at New Dawn to take on Delirious, Tornado, Sydal and Gail Kim in an mixed eight-person tag. The UK Wrecking Crew once again walked away with the victory.
However, their dominance in MECCA was rivaled by Nykk's faction The House of Lords, who held all the power in MECCA. The UK Wrecking Crew attracted Nykk's attention, and he took the opportunity to run them down in their home country of England. But they continued to have success, and Lee, Nathans, and Fletcher all qualified for the Eight-Man Throwdown at Punked Out. However, Tristan was on the losing side of the random eight-man tag and did not advance. On the following Go Time on July 4, Nykk decided to celebrate America's birthday as well as The Pyro Twins' defection to the House of Lords by booking them to team with Cynric, Huh, and Joey Sprinklers in a Handicap match against Lee, Nathans, and Fletcher. The House of Lords won, but that didn't stop them from attacking the UKWC after the match. But then Tristan's brother Austin Lee emerged from the crowd, rallying his countrymen and sending the House of Lords packing after he and Tristan put Huh through a table. All four men would team to face Nykk, Cynric, Huh, and Joey Sprinklers at Summertime Showdown, but come out on the losing end.
Band of Brothers
After the departure of Nathans and Fletcher from MECCA in the fall, Austin and Tristan continued to team together, being informally known as The Lee Brothers. They took on Nykk and Ronin Fox at No Regrets, but Tristan's inexperience was an issue, and the Lees took a loss. With the feud between the MECCA loyalists and the House of Lords coming to a head, MECCA authority Katie Piehl proposed a Best of Five series at End of the Line for control of the company. The Lees teamed with Matt Sydal and Delirious to defeat Cynric, Alan Mayse, Huh and Joey Sprinklers in an eight-man tag, and the loyalists would go on to win the series, breaking the House of Lords' power. The Lees continued to team as well as pursue their owns singles careers. In February, Tristan was approached by manager Prince Nana about joining his Consulate faction, but Tristan refused. Nana came back with a more generous offer, but again Tristan said no. An enraged Nana had his recent signees the Surgeons attack Tristan and lay him out on the ring. Tristan wanted payback at Bloody Valentine, but his brother was busy with a title match. So he asked Jamie Chan, whose career was starting to take off, to be his partner. Chan accepted, and they met the Surgeons at the event. But Chan betrayed his partner, leading to a Surgeons victory. Afterward, Chan confirmed that he had accepted an offer from Nana and was now part of the Consulate. Tristan tried to get his revenge at Melee, but Chan won their match after using foreign objects to his advantage. Tristan continued to feud with the Consulate, which dragged in his brother. They teamed up at The MECCA Challenge IV, but lost to the Surgeons.
The Lees would continue to compete against the House of Lords and Epsilon Epsilon Epsilon throughout the summer, but after World Champion Anubis cheapshotted his brother in their title match at Summertime Showdown, Tristan was dragged into their rivalry, along with Anubis's former partner and best friend, The Wild Wolf. Tristan and Wolf formed a brief team and challenged EEE for the tag belts at Scared Stiff, but were unsuccessful. On the November 12 Go Time, Tristan challenged Anubis to a World Title match, and the confrontation degenerated into a brawl, goading Anubis into accepting the challenge. Lee gave it his all, but Anubis lost control during the match and pummeled Tristan so badly that the referee had to stop the bout.
In early 2009, Tristan began to have a change of attitude. He seemed to resent his brother when he had once revered him. Tristan scored a couple of huge upsets over Yoshiaki Yago and Bryan Danielson, causing Katie Piehl to take notice. Austin was in line for a title shot as well, Katie booked them in a match on March 11 for a shot at Anubis at Melee. The match was thrown out when Anubis assaulted both men, and Katie responded by making the title match a Triangle match. However, Anubis was able to retain his title over both men. The Lees got into an argument on the following Go Time that ended with Tristan assaulting his brother in the locker room. This led to a match at The MECCA Challenge V, which Austin won. All the anger seemed to disappear from Tristan after the match, and he embraced his brother on a match well fought. With their issues seemingly behind them, they concentrated on becoming the Tag Team Champions, but were unable to defeat the Consulate at New Dawn. They received a rematch in their home country of England on June 10, but Austin suddenly turned on his brother during the match, allowing the Consulate to get the pin. Austin hospitalized Tristan after the match, as well as brutalized several officials, leading to Katie Piehl suspending him indefinitely for his conduct. Austin's suspension was lifted on August 5, and Austin explained that he did what he did because Tristan had been trying to undermine his career for months, and Austin wasn't going to forget just because Tristan had a change of heart. He warned his brother to stay away from MECCA, or he would do much worse to him than he already did.
Undaunted, Tristan returned from his injuries the next week and confronted his brother. A brawl erupted, and a match was made for Summertime Showdown. Tristan managed to sneak in a victory, but Austin got the last laugh, once again attacking Tristan after the match, causing him to be stretchered out. Tristan wouldn't be denied, and was back in action soon, challenging his brother again. They met in a Falls Count Anywhere match at At Your Own Risk, which Austin won after powerbombing Tristan from the entrance stage through a bunch of equipment on the floor. They met one more time in a Last Man Standing match at Scared Stiff, with Austin defeating his brother to end the feud.
On His Own
Tristan rebounded by challenging Toughman Champion the Wild Wolf to a title match on November 11. He caused Wolf to tap out, winning his first title in MECCA. His reign was short-lived, however, when Wolf regained the title on December 9. But Tristan wasn't done, and won the belt back from Wolf on December 23. They finally settled the feud at Ignition in a Ladder match, in which Wolf finally came out on top. Afterward, Tristan entered a bit of a slump for a few months, and entered into a brief partnership with Jack Fletcher. The UK Wrecking Crew had recently returned, but Andy Nathans was out with an injury and Fletcher asked his old friend Tristan to team with him as the New-K Wrecking Crew. They worked their way up to a tag title shot, but were defeated by Austin Lee and Anubis, The Invincible Outlaws. On the June 30 episode of Go Time was attacked by his brother and Anubis, who were looking for Andy Nathans and Jack Fletcher after losing the tag titles to them, and beat up Tristan as a message. Tristan got a match with them, and picked Davey Richards as his partner. Even though they lost the match, they gelled well as a team and would continue to work together. They backed up the UK Wrecking Crew during their Stadium Riot against the Outlaws at Summertime Showdown, while amassing a winning streak of their own and taking the moniker Deep Impact.
After successfully teaming up with the UKWC on November 3, Deep Impact suddenly turned on their partners. They eventually revealed they felt overlooked by Nathans and Fletcher for title shots, but Katie Piehl was upset about the way they conducted themselves. They agreed to meet the UKWC in a non-title match at No Regrets with the provision that a victory meant a title shot down the line. But the UK Wrecking Crew defeated them at the show, but not without controversy. They eventually got their title shot at End of the Line and ended the year by becoming Tag Team Champions. They fended off the UKWC in rematches, as well as other challengers, just as a new team was on the rise. High Def wanted a tag title shot, and Lee and Richards did everything in their power to deny them. But High Def worked their way into a title match, winning a shot at Deep Impact at The MECCA Challenge VII. However, they finally lost the titles at the event.
A couple of weeks later, Davey Richards once again expressed desire to be Toughman Champion and had a shot at Marcus Kavian scheduled for New Dawn. But he went down to an injury, and Tristan took his place. He was not successful in regaining the title, but was optimistic that Richards would return and they would get their rematch against High Def at Punked Out. Much to Tristan's consternation, Richards only returned at the last minute, and Deep Impact lost the rematch. In the following weeks, Richards revealed that his contract with MECCA was up at the end of August and he would not be re-signing. Tristan was upset about what that meant for their team, and the two had harsh words, leading to a match at Never Say Die, which Tristan won. In the weeks that followed, Tristan would then trade wins with Jay Crowe, but lost the rubber match to him at Summertime Showdown.
Lee continued to reestablish himself in the singles division over the course of the fall, looking to do anything to catch the attention of MECCA officials and get an opportunity. He volunteered for the annual Stiff Strike Challenge at Scared Stiff, but was unable to get the win. In December, he challenged his former rival Jamie Chan to a match, looking to get on the Contender Star. Chan accepted, and the match took place at End of the Line, with Chan getting the win.
Family Reunion
In early 2012, Tristan's brother Austin was involved in a bitter rivalry against the dominant Near Future faction. They began to ridicule Austin's family and upbringing, which drew the ire of Tristan. He and Austin began talking again, and on the February 8 episode of Go Time, Austin showed up to be Tristan's partner in his match against the Crowe Brothers, reuniting the Lees. Tristan would go on to receive a World Title shot against Eddie Crowe at Six-Man Melee, and also brought The Dark City Fight Club into MECCA to watch his back against The Circle of Trust. Despite this, Tristan was unable to win the World Title, but he teamed with the DCFC to take on Eddie and The Pyro Twins in the first round of the 2012 Trios Tag League. They won the match, but lost in the semi-finals to the Near Future trio of Brandon Blade, Aaron Glover, and Terrence Bolton. He and Austin also feuded with the Tag Team Champions The Peacemakers, but were unable to win the belts. Tristan competed in the 12-Man Battlebrawl at The MECCA Challenge VIII, and made it to the final four before being eliminated. Later in the night, he helped his brother celebrate after Austin became the new World Champion.
Tristan would back up Austin as he needed him, and after Austin lost the belt in July, they began teaming on a more regular basis. By November, they worked their way back into title contention and received a title shot after winning a Four Corners Match at No Regrets. On the next episode of Go Time, they defeated Aaron Glover and Terrence Bolton to win the titles. They defeated their old rivals the Peacemakers at End of the Line, and Bolton and Glover in a rematch at Ignition at the start of 2013. However, their old enemies the Circle of Trust came calling, and the Pyro Twins defeated the Lees for the belts at Six-Man Melee. Austin and Tristan worked hard to get back into contention, winning a Triangle Match at Kick Start and a tag team battle royale at The MECCA Challenge IX. They received their rematch with the Pyro Twins at New Dawn, which was contested under Texas Tornado rules, but lost. They continued to fight back against the Pyro Twins along with their friends The Wild Wolf and Amazing Red, and both teams received a title shot in a Triangle Match on the June 26 episode of Go Time. The Pyro Twins still managed to retain, and the Lees started growing frustrated. They faced off against Wolf and Red in a friendly contest at Never Say Die, but after winning attacked their opponents.
The Lees marked their attitude change by pretentiously beginning to refer to themselves as The Brothers Lee, and over the next few weeks were manipulated by Ronin Fox into helping him in his feud with Drake Younger. However, at Summertime Showdown, the Brothers Lee and Fox were defeated by Younger, Wolf, and Red in a six-man tag. The Lees struggled to maintain their status as a top tag team, and in the fall began to branch out into the singles division again. Tristan sought a shot a the Legacy Championship, but couldn't secure a petition match. He asked to be added to a Four Corners Match at End of the Line also involving YO-HEY, Jack Evans, and Amazing Red in an attempt to get some momentum, but did not win the match.
Departure
After unsuccessfully competing in the 6MM match at Six-Man Melee, Austin and Tristan looked to get another shot at the tag titles. They had some success, and MECCA Authority Cynric put them in a Four Corners tag match at The MECCA Challenge X against The Young Bucks, Alex Shelley and Brian Kendrick, and Low Ki and Gran Akuma. The Lees were unsuccessful, and Austin left MECCA a couple of weeks later when his contract expired. Tristan stuck around for a few more months until his contract expired in the fall. His last appearance was a loss to Trent Baretta on the October 15 episode of Go Time.
