    Introduction
I went to Egypt for two weeks in March 1999 visiting most of the popular places (major exceptions were Alexandria and Sinai).

This section of the web site gives information about my trip, including where I went, where I stayed, where I ate and how much things cost.

    Route
This section contains a map of Egypt, showing where I went. It also gives details of how long I spent where and the transport I used to got about.

    Cairo
Cairo was where I entered and left Egypt, by plane. Its a massive city with lots to see, most notably the Pyramids of Giza, which are very close by.

    Aswan
Right down in the south of Egypt, Aswan is very different to Cairo. Its here where you get some of the best Nile views and also Aswan is the best place to organise a feluuca trip.

    Felucca Trip
Two days cruising down the Nile in the traditional Egyptian boat, from Aswan to Edfu. An unexpected bonus on our trip was a visit to our captain's village, a surreal and unforgettable experience.

    Luxor
As one guidebook puts it, Luxor is a massive open air museum. Karnak Temple is awe inspiring, the West Bank sites such as the Valley of the Kings and Deir el- Bahri no less so.

    Fayoum Oasis
This was the least touristy part of Egypt I visited. No fake papyrus and alabaster shops here, but some some interesting sites around.
