R.I.P BROTHER
A FIREMAN'S PRAYER

When I am called to duty, God
Wherever flames may rage
Give me the strength to save a life
Whatever be its age
Help me embrace a little child
Before it is too late
Or save an older person from
The horror of that fate
Enable me to be alert and
Hear the weakest shout
And quickly and efficiently
To put the fire out
I want to fill my calling and
To give the best in me
To guard my every neighbor
And protect their property
And if according to your will
I have to lose my life
Please bless with your protecting hand
My children and my wife.

"I have no ambition in this world but one and that is to be a fireman.
The position may in the eyes of some appear to be a lowly one; But those who know the work which a fireman has to do believe his is a noble calling.

Our proudest moment is to save...lives.
Under the impulse of such thoughts the nobility of the occupation thrills us and stimulates us to deeds of daring even of supreme sacrifice."

Edward F. Croker
Chief of Department FDNY
