Chapter 4

After having sex nine times in a twenty-four hour period, Kevin and Reina spent the next day sleeping. They planned on going to a favorite underground club of vampires that night, to officially announce their marriage, so they needed their rest.
Kevin was awoken suddenly when he heard a scream. He had never heard that scream before. Kevin turned to shake Reina awake and said, "We need to go, someone is in trouble," Kevin said. He found that she wasn’t in bed beside him. He jumped out of bed and quickly got dressed. He called Tereth and Halther, and several other vampires that knew him together.
"I can feel her fear, Kevin," Halther said.
"We have to get to her quick everyone. She's been kidnapped by who knows whom. I'm worried about her state," Kevin said.
"All of you, concentrate, try to figure out where she is," Halther said, trying to pinpoint a location.
"No, I can’t, she’s moving away from us, something is blocking her mental telepathy. We have to do something," Kevin said as he ran to the garage. The others were not far behind him.
“Wait, she’s struggling against someone, I can’t see their face, this thing is trying to force her into a van. She’s at a large old pirate castle?” Tereth asked unsure of what he was seeing. With just that tiny amount of information, Halther knew exactly where she was, and by association, whom she was with. Her twin, Raynard, had gone into hiding several hundred years ago, when he realized that not only was he the last bloodsucker, but that he was being constantly watched and monitored by Reina’s brood.
“Where to?” Kevin asked.
“The club, we’re going to need help and information,” Halther said. Halther threw Kevin the keys to his car. He knew Kevin was capable of getting them there faster than he could.
"Hurry Kevin, she's fading quick," Tereth said.
“Halther, who is behind this, do you have any ideas at all?” Kevin asked. “Why can’t I make contact with my own sweet love, but Tereth can?”
“You’re weak, you two just spent the last twenty-four hours making love to one another, and yes, her brother is behind this.”
"What is his name?” Kevin asked.
“His name is Raynard,” Halther said.
“Do you think Raynard was waiting for Reina to be somewhat unprotected before he made his move?" Kevin said.
"I don’t think so, Kevin, it’s simply that this style, the kidnapping, just has Raynard written all over it," Halther said.
*************
"Raynard, please! You can't do this." Reina pleaded as he had struggled to get her into the van.
"That's where you're wrong Reina. I can do this and I will do this," Raynard hissed as he continued to struggle with Reina. 'She's gotten a lot stronger. Come on Raynard. Concentrate. You have to get her into the van.' Raynard said to himself.
Reina went to open her mouth and Raynard said, “Curse you Father and that crystal of everlasting powers and strength! He's not going to win this time. We came into this world together Reina, and you will be mine!"
Reina knew she couldn't keep up this fight much longer. Although she had the crystal of power and life, Raynard was nearly as strong as she was, only, she couldn’t feed off of his psyche, nor could she bite him. Even though Raynard was blonde, he had the blood of his victims in his veins. That was the protection that he got in exchange for the being the one who could only drain blood, but it was only Reina and only her fangs that he was protected against. There would be no reason for him to bite her. She could still wear him down without too much difficulty, because he would have to stop and eat sometime.
The problem here was that Reina didn’t have her knife, otherwise she would have stabbed him and drained him of his blood that way. 'Kevin, please save me! He's got me.’ Reina was only able to say once before Raynard was able to block her from sending out telepathic messages.
"He'll never find you now." Raynard said as he laughed.
“What the….you have no power over my mind,” she said to him.
“I picked them up, out of some very interesting books,” Raynard divulges.
"You are no match for me," Reina screamed.
*************
"She's not there anymore." Tereth said as they sped towards the club.
"What was the last thing you heard her say?" Kevin asked.
"He has her. That's all she was able to say before he cut her off. He's not very strong though. I can still feel her fear." Kevin said.
"If he's as weak as Tereth says he is he won't be able to keep this up for very long," Halther said.
"What we need are more reinforcements so that we can all take on Raynard all at once," Kevin said.
"What aren't you telling me Halther?" Kevin said.
"Nothing." Halther said, knowing it was a lost cause. Kevin knew that he was not telling him the truth.
"Halther, this is Reina we're talking about. I CANNOT let anything happen to her, do you hear me? If you know something that can help us, you better spill," Kevin yelled. He was loosing his patience with this whole situation.
****************
They must have been on the road for about four hours and even though Raynard had blindfolded her, he was loosing strength quickly and Reina was able to determine that they were in a wood cabin somewhere. She just wished she knew which direction they had been driving in. Raynard had thrown Reina in a corner. She was now able to pick up on Raynard's fear. 'He's a lot weaker than I thought.' Reina said to himself.
"Shut-up over there Reina. If you think you can take me down, you are wrong!" Raynard yelled.
"You're getting weak, Raynard. Admit it. I can sense your fear. Soon I'll be able to read your mind, you’re not well practiced in power over the mind. And soon after that you won't be able to block my thoughts," Reina taunted Raynard.
"I told you to shut up!" Raynard hissed.
"I must say, I am quite surprised that you managed to clean up you foul mouth," Reina continued to taunt him. She wanted to bring his senses down long enough to at least get a message out to Kevin.
Raynard said, “I was trying to be civil and spare you.”
"You? Be civil? Don’t make me laugh," Reina said.
Reina could hear Raynard moving around the room, but she wasn't getting a response out of him. "This should shut you up," Raynard said as he put a piece of tape over Reina's mouth. Over the next hour, Reina was able to silence all the thoughts in her head and simulate a dream state. It took a little of her strength to pull it off, she wanted to let Raynard believe that she was asleep, in hopes that he would let himself slip into sleep. She only pulled the sleep state off because she had gotten a little ways into his mind and found out that he could read the emotions of other beings.
Another hour passed and Reina took the chance to try and get through to Kevin. 'Kevin? Can you hear me? If you can, I'm still alive. We're in a wood cabin, I'm not sure where. He's loosing strength fast,' was all Reina said. She didn't want to push her luck.
She finally let herself drift off to sleep. If she was going to have a chance of beating Raynard, she would have to get some sleep as well and have a clear mind.
*******************
"Did you hear that?" Kevin asked; his strength came back after he fed off of some people who were having a gang war in the alley way as they passed. The rival gang members all dropped their weapons and started singing 60’s songs about being friends and all.
"Hear what?" Halther said.
"It was Reina! She's still alive. They're in a wood cabin somewhere and Raynard is pretty weak, especially if Reina was able to get that message out to me," Kevin said.
"Do you think he cut her off?" Tereth asked.
"No. Reina isn't as afraid as she was just a few hours ago," Kevin said.
"Yeah I can sense that as well. Let's keep asking around though. I'm sure someone knows where this cabin is. Raynard has nothing but enemies that I'm sure we can find someone that will talk," Halther said.
“What I’d like to know is how he learned how to control minds, I thought he didn’t have that ability,” Tereth says.
“By nature, he doesn’t, so he must have read on the subject. His abilities with the art are clearly limited, since he apparently didn’t try to block her last message,” Halther replies.
For the next couple of hours Kevin, Halther and Tereth split up in the club and touched bases with some old friends. By five am, none of them had made much progress as to where the cabin was, but everyone that they spoke to (which was everyone at the club) wanted to help very much in the rescue of their leader.
"Find anything out?" Halther asked when they all met again.
"Not since the last time Reina was able to get through to me. They're in a log cabin somewhere," Kevin said.
"I spoke to someone that saw Raynard's white van about two hours north of here. We at least have some idea what direction they headed in," Halther said.
"The cabin is probably about four or five hours from here. They were at the cabin when Reina got through to me," Kevin said.
"Let's go call Greath from the state police. Maybe he can help us locate cabins four or five hours from Orlando," Halther said.
"You know where you're going. You can drive," Kevin said as he handed Halther the keys. They had recruited every vampire in the club, and that was well over five hundred, to come with them to find this cabin in the woods.
