April 2 - GAME #2 vs Washington Nationals (1-0)
Bartolo Colon makes his Mets debut against the Nationals Gio Gonzales. Wilmer Flores was called up temporarily to give Daniel Murphy one more day on maternity leave. Murph is expected back on Thursday. Not expected back anytime soon is closer Bobby Parnell. After blowing a save on opening day with two outs and two strikes, Parnell was put on the disabled list with a partially torn MCL in his right elbow. Parnell is going to rest and rehab for 6 weeks to avoid Tommy John surgery. The Mets purchased the contract of right-hander Kyle Farnsworth and Jose Valverde will assume the closer role.

Bartolo Colon pitched a quality start but surrendered back to back HRs in the fifth (one by Nats pitcher Gio Gonzalez). Juan Lagares was 2-for-4 with a 2B & 3B. He led off the first with a triple and scored on David Wright's sacrifice fly. That was all the offense the Mets could muster with only three hits and striking out 13 times. Curtis Granderson went hitless (now 0-for-9 with five K's). OF Chris Young's Mets debut only lasted a half inning as he aggravated a right quad strain chasing a foul ball in the top of the first. Josh Satin played first base in today's saga of the rotating trio of first basemen (Davis, Duda, Satin).
I'm posting my "seat location" as Extra Innings but bear with me on a MLB.tv rant. I started watching on my xbox as last year they were the best quality. Long story short: at startup they showed me the score (1-1 4th inn) as the game was in progress, bad picture quality & the screen froze up in the 4th inning. I switched to my PC and the Mets game would not even come up. I opened up AtBat on my phone and the screen froze for a few seconds every couple minutes (plus I jumped ahead to live and missed 3 innings). I then turned on the TV and put on the free preview of Extra Innings and watched the rest of the game. Judging from the comments on the MLB.tv forum, all platforms were experiencing problems and there were a lot of unhappy baseball fans tonight, me included. I think MLB.tv is being run by the same people that are overseeing Obamacare's website. Frustrating.
