The man pictured above is named Roberto. He is from Brazil and has a band named Gudenlawd. I hate to use the term "old school", but, uhm, my man here IS old school. Obviously Roberto is a big C.O.P. fan. He is also a very talented musician. Their submission for the cd is "Waitin' For The Wizard", and is the first song on the jukebox. I figured once a week or so I would put a tribute song on the jukebox so people could get a feel of the cd. If you dig the track, let Roberto and the boys know through their Myspace page. The uploaded track is a low quality version of the song.

The band themselves have nothing to do with this, but Alex knows about it and thinks it's very cool. I'm sure all the guys will dig this when it's done. This is all about Heart and Soul and working class rock n roll.

Tribute CD Update

I'm just waiting for a couple more tracks and then I'm gonna get this cd rolling. I'm hoping to have the cd ready by mid July or so. This is going to be a very limited cd, probably only 100 or so copies available. If you would like to download or purchase a particular track, please contact the band that does the song. There will be links to all the artists on this page.

{03/08/07} I know there has not been an update for quite some time. I'm not being lazy, there just has not been anything to report that has been confirmed by the band. As far as I know, Alex Mitchell is writing for an upcoming Circus Of Power record. There is also a rumour going around that C.O.P. will be playing a show in L.A. in the next couple of months. Remember that this is all unconfirmed. Once I get official news from the band, you will all be the first to know. Well, you'll be the second to know.........

(01/24/07} Alex Mitchell recently took some time to get the fans up to speed on the Circus Of Power front. To read it click here

{12/01/06} Circus Of Power & Beyond ! "The Lowdown For Now"

Wow!! What a great night. The Circus Of Power show at Don Hills in New York City on Sept. 27th was an unmitigated success. It was one of those very rare instances in life when in fact "you can go back". It really had the feel of an old high school reunion and it was great to see so many people come out and support the band as well as the new "Passion & Brotherhood" film. The new video of "Motor" really puts across the excitement and energy of that special night. It's inspired us all to commit for further camaraderie-laced adventures together in the near future. Everyone is a little older now and more accepting of everyone's shortcomings soooooooooooo.....

A "20th Anniversary Show" in Los Angeles is in the process of being set up. Our intention is to go over to Japan for a few shows from there.

The live recording from the NYC show is in the process of being evaluated to determine its validity. Ricky Beck Mahler and Daniel Rey will be handling the mixdown duties. Work will continue on the C.O.P. long form DVD release "Got Motor? Swamp Boogie in the Big City". If anyone has video footage from the New York City show and they have yet to contact me please do so. I'm in the process of sorting thru what everyone shot and there is some really good stuff. Big ups to Lou Auriemma, Peter Grazeeolt, Andrew Mele, Lucas Reinhart & Carl "Stunts" who shot some great footage of the show.

Any promoters out there interested in booking the band we'd like to hear from you. Please contact me Here.

Thank you for your support, it has inspired us to continue to work together.

On behalf of the Band and "Family"

{11/11/06} Director Drew Stone, the man who brought C.O.P. back to N.Y.C. has posted a preview of his upcoming dvd release "Passion & Brotherhood" on Youtube. There are a couple shots of Circus in the preview. Drew is also the man who is putting together the Circus Of Power long form video "Got Motor? Swamp Boogie In The Big City" which will be available next year through Renegade Distribution. Check it out below.

{10/29/06} CIRCUS OF POWER frontman Alex Mitchell has published a book, entitled "Life Is A Phantom Kmart Horse Starting Up In The Middle Of The Night". The author's official bio reads as follows:

"Alex Mitchell was born in Toronto and moved to Pompano Beach when he was 12. He was student of the year in eighth grade but got kicked out the following semester. Mitchell never finished high school, instead spending the several years working construction, dealing pot, cutting lawns, and hanging around the local punk rock scene. He moved to New York City at age 21 and later formed the rock group CIRCUS OF POWER (RCA Records). In 1991, he moved to Los Angeles and started writing poems in 2004. Alex continues to live in L.A., writing and singing in rock groups."

To order a copy, click here.

CIRCUS OF POWER's first New York City show in over 12 years was held on Sept. 27 in conjunction with director Drew Stone's release party for his new film "Passion & Brotherhood". The band appears in the film from Austin, Texas performing "Heart Attack" as the soundtrack to the "Urban Street - Bike Warriors All-Star" segment. Live footage of the band is intercut with the world's top street motorcycle stunt riders, including Kyle Woods and Chris "Teach" McNeil.

The New York City show was filmed for the upcoming CIRCUS OF POWER long-form DVD, "Got Motor? Swamp Boogie In The Big City", due out in 2007 through Renegade Distribution. The DVD will include classic performances throughout the band's career as well as new footage documenting the band's "20th anniversary" shows.

{10/08/06} The follwing was posted by Drew Stone on the Circus Of Power MySpace page.

A formal announcement regarding the future of Circus Of Power will be issued shortly.

There will be more "20th Anniversary Shows".

It looks like Los Angeles & Japan are next on the agenda.

Stay tuned.....

{9/28/06} As expected, the show at Don Hill's last night {09/27/06} was a Rock n Roll Swamp Boogie Showdown. I would like to thank the band for making my wife Judy, my brother and I feel like family. I also would like to give a big thumbs up the fans who came out to show the Power support.

I would also like to thank Drew Stone, who put this whole Cajun Metal fest together. Right now I'm just spent from the show, but will be updating the site over the next few days.

If you videotaped the show, get the footage off to Drew Sone for possible inclusion in the upcoming Circus Of Power dvd. I will have details very soon.........

Guitarist/producer Daniel Rey (MASTERS OF REALITY, RAMONES) will join CIRCUS OF POWER on stage as second guitarist at the September 27 show at Don Hill's. In addition to Alex Mitchell (vocals), Ricky Beck Mahler (guitar), Ryan Maher (drums), and Marc Frappier (bass), the band will also be joined on stage during the second half of the show by guitar player Carmine Mattaliano (BIOHAZARD, NUCLEUS, GOD ZERO) and Queen Vixen and Honey 1%er (THE CYCLE SLUTS FROM HELL). For this special "20th Anniversary Show", the band will be performing their classic self-titled debut in its entirety as well as choice selections from their 1990 (RCA) release "Vices" and "Magic & Madness" (Columbia, 1993). The band will also perform their version of the classic ROLLING STONES song "Dead Flowers", which can be seen at www.circusofpower.net.

With his wife expecting their first child, founding member Gary Sunshine will be unable to perform at the band's upcoming "20th Anniversary" show September 27 in New York City. "Although he will be very much missed by both band and fans alike all we can say is 'Mazel Tov, good things!!" says drummer Ryan Maher.

CIRCUS OF POWER have reunited and will be playing their first New York City show in over 12 years as part of director Drew Stone's release party for his new film "Passion & Brotherhood". The band appears in the film from Austin, Texas performing "Heart Attack" as the soundtrack to the "Urban Street - Bike Warriors All-Star" segment. Live footage of the band is intercut with the worlds top street motorcycle stunt riders including Kyle Woods and Chris "Teach" McNeil. "'Passion & Brotherhood' is the most eagerly anticipated stuntbike film of the year and we are all very excited about the bands involvement," says Stone.

Concertgoers are encouraged to bring their mini DV video cameras and film the upcoming CIRCUS OF POWER show at Don Hills in New York on September 27. "We encourage anyone coming to the show to bring their cameras and please shoot the show," says Drew Stone. "We're appealing to the CIRCUS OF POWER fans to not only come and shoot the show but to please shoot some 'lifestyle' as well. Getting ready for the show and whatever antics occur while traveling to the show or getting ready is more than welcome on the tape. Have some fun with it!! If you need a blank DV tape they will be available at the front door as you enter the show; just ask for one. Any questions please e-mail me at stone4124@aol.com. {7/11/06} OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

Circus Of Power; Alex Mitchell (vocals), Ricky Beck Mahler (guitar), Gary Sunshine (Guitar), Ryan Maher (drums), and Marc Frappier (bass) Have reunited and will be playing their first New York City show in over 12 years as part of Director Drew Stone's release party for the new film "The Road To Ruin". For this special "20th Anniversary Show" they will be performing their classic self-titled debut in its entirety as well as choice selections from their 1990 (RCA) release "Vices" and "Magic & Madness" (Columbia) 1993. The band will also be performing their version of the classic Rolling Stone's song "Dead Flowers" which can be seen here (www.circusofpower.net) from the Road To Ruin film.

The show Sept 27th is scheduled for Don Hills in Manhattans Greenwich Village. "Don ran the Cat Cub back in the late ˜80"s which was a great room both acoustically and especially socially. We filmed our "Call Of the Wild" music video in that room and had some great times playing NYC in that era," says Beck Mahler. "We look forward to returning after all these years, seeing old friends and playing Don's room".

The show is being filmed as part of the Circus Of Power long form DVD retrospective "Got Motor"? (Swamp Boogie In The Big City) which is due for release thru Renegade Distribution in early 2007. The DVD includes many classic performances of the band as well as the now legendary appearance from the Morton Downey Jr. show. The show is a literal time capsule of New York"s chaotic rock scene of the late 1980's. Highlights from the show include the band performing their song "White Trash Queen" from their debut album along with Kiss guitar player Ace Frehley. The DVD will also contain live performances as an rare acoustic version of "Don't Drag Me Down" from the Vices album from Japanese TV.

Says Stone; "The chaos and turmoil that eventually caused this great band to dissolve 10 years ago simply doesn't exist right now. I'm excited to have old friends back together with clear heads playing music and having fun with it. I'm honored that they are in my new film and are convening in New York City from all over the country to show support and play the release party. I welcome them into the Urban Street-Bike Warriors family wholeheartedly.

{7/4/06} I finally have some fan photos that were taken at The Elysium show. They were sent to me by Charles, who's info is on the photo page. Check out the pictures here.

{06/19/06} Press release from Blabbermouth

The CIRCUS OF POWER "Dead Flowers" segment from the upcoming "Road To Ruin" film directed by Drew Stone can be viewed at www.circusofpower.net.

CIRCUS OF POWER members Ricky Beck Mahler (guitar), Alex Mitchell (vocals), Ryan Maher (drums) and Marc Frappier (bass) reunited for a "20th Anniversary Show" June 3 at The Elysium in Austin, Texas. They performed their classic 1988 self-titled debut in its entirety as well as the songs "Dreams Tonight" and "Vices".

The controversial new film by Drew Stone (MTV's "True Life""I Live To Ride" episode; "Urban Street - Bike Warriors" trilogy; AGNOSTIC FRONT's "Gotta Go") deals with the confusion, anguish and joy of being addicted to rock and roll 20 years down the line. A celebration of the survival of the "rock 'n' roll spirit" past 2010, the new movie is also expected to include footage from the STIGMATA reunion show, which featured SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner. "Road to Ruin" is scheduled for an April 2007 release.

Says Stone regarding the CIRCUS OF POWER reunion show: "It was a real thrill to see this great band back together on stage playing all the songs from their influential first record. The footage came out great but most of all seeing old friends put the past behind them and play music we all love was the real payoff for me. That’s the spirit of the 'Road To Ruin' film. I'm not going to even get into any crap about 'rock's coming back.' I've got some news for you… ROCK'S BACK…. and this is coming from a guy who's made a career doing rap videos."

For more information on Drew Stone and the "Road To Ruin" film, visit www.stonefilmsnyc.com.

{06/16/06} I am working on a page where you can e-mail C.O.P. members directly. Alex "Showbiz Al" Mitchell is the first one listed. Check out the new page Here.

{06/07/06}CIRCUS OF POWER '20th Anniversary' Reunion Show To Be Shot For 'Road To Ruin' Film - June 2, 2006

Film director Drew Stone (MTV's "True Life""I Live To Ride" episode; "Urban Street - Bike Warriors" trilogy; AGNOSTIC FRONT's "Gotta Go" video) will be filming the CIRCUS OF POWER reunion show this weekend for inclusion in his upcoming "Road to Ruin" film. The movie is also expected to include footage from the STIGMATA reunion show, which featured SHADOWS FALL drummer Jason Bittner. "Road to Ruin" is scheduled for an April 2007 release.

CIRCUS OF POWER members Ricky Beck Mahler (guitar), Alex Mitchell (vocals), Ryan Maher (drums) and Marc Frappier (bass) will be playing a "20th Anniversary Show" June 3 at The Elysium in Austin, Texas. They will be performing their classic 1988 self-titled debut in its entirety as well as the songs "Dreams Tonight" and "Vices". Also appearing on the bill will be BROKEN TEETH and CRANK COUNTY DAREDEVILS.

Says Stone: "[CIRCUS OF POWER] was a great band back in the day that came out of the gritty, dirty New York rock scene of the late '80s/early '90s. Although I'm out on the road with the 'Urban Street - Bike Warriors Tour', I'm dropping EVERYTHING to come to the show to shoot it. I'm VERY excited to see this band on stage again and glad to see rock and roll on the comeback trail."
