Hello Everyone, Today was much better than yesterday, the day spent in the airport. We awoke to a rainy day in Guangzhou. This was the remnants of the typhoon that killed more than 20 people. We only saw rain, no wind. The breakfast buffet is truly amazing. They have any kind of breakfast food you can imagine and some you can't. Everything I have tasted has been delicious. I highly recommend this place if you're ever in China! There is a lady who stands on each floor and ushers you on and off the elevator, and someone who comes around and turns down your bed each night. What service!!!! We took the tour with the GWCA group this morning to the Chen Family home. This is one of the few remaining old Chinese homes still left after the Cultural Revolution. It was beautiful and was the home of a very wealthy family. Jackie Chan, the actor, is from this family. We saw some amazing embroidery, ivory and jade carvings, and cut paper. The workmanship of the artisans here is hard to describe, they are unbelievable. I can't imagine how much time was put into some of these works. I'm glad I got to see them and I want Abbi to see them one day, too. When we left there we went to the jade and porcelain stores. Brian and I were sticker shocked. We got much better prices in Abbi's province than here. What we keep hearing is that this is better quality. Well we can't tell the difference so why pay the difference....right? Y'all won't know, will you? Ha Ha! When we got back to the hotel we wanted to do some real shopping around the hotel, but it was raining and miserable. We bought Abbi some shoes and a few dresses, but not much today. I hope I will have more time tomorrow. They have so much neat stuff that I want her to have and pretty good prices. They don't really want to bargain a whole lot though. Tonight, we went in a taxi to another shopping center. It was very crowded and I felt uneasy. For the most part the people were very friendly, but we did get a few odd stares. I don't think I'll be going back to that particular place. It kinda felt like those places you see on the movies where you have to have a special knock and password to get in, and any second the police will come and make you all leave! Not for me! We were so tired tonight, falling asleep was very easy. I hope tomorrow the weather will permit more shopping! Abbi is still being a little ham and not meeting a stranger. She is crinkling her nose at everyone and smiling. She is very, very busy and loves to be on the go. She's giving Brian kisses all the time now and goes to him easily. She has both of us pretty much wrapped around her little finger. Tomorrow is our last full day in Guangzhou. We are flying home Tuesday night. Drew....we will see you very soon. We can't wait to get our great big hug from you. We bought you something today....hope you like it! We will see you soon.
Love,
