Greenwood coach Will McCoy started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Lofton Howard, 6-4 So. Asher Pettus, 6-5 Sr. Briar Hartis, 5-10 So. Nick Simpson, and 6-3 Sr. Luke Stansbury. Madison Southern coach Bell Bevins countered with 6-3 Jr. Jay Rose, 6-5 Sr. Brett Erslan, 6-1 Jr. Zach Hudson, 5-8 So. Casen Nobbe, and 6-0 Jr. Braden Hudson.
Madison Southern utilized their pressure defense to outscore Greenwood 27-10 in the third quarter on their way to a 75-57 victory. Madison Southern shot 50% from the field including eight of 28 from the three point line. The Eagles connected on seven of 10 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and committed 10 turnovers. Greenwood shot 38.5% from the field including 11 of 29 from beyond the arc. The Gators connected on six of 12 free throws, pulled down 30 rebounds, and committed 19 turnovers.
Jay Rose led Madison Southern with 28 points including three three point baskets, 11 rebounds, five assists, and four steals. Zach Hudson added 25 points including three three point baskets, six rebounds, and three steals. Braden Hudson recorded 10 points, five rebounds, nine assists, and four steals.
Luke Stansbury led Greenwood with 14 points including four three point baskets, five rebounds, and two steals. 6-0 So. Cole Phillips added 11 points including two three point baskets. Nick Simpson recorded nine points on three three point baskets. Lofton Howard chipped in with eight points, five rebounds, and three assists.
