Thunder over the Mountains, Battle of Harlan County, whatever you want to call it the epic battle for the 52nd District Championship between Harlan and Harlan County will be part of the folk lore of high school for years to come. Harlan County won the championship with an 81-72 victory over Harlan but that is only part of the story. 6-0 Jr. Blair Green of Harlan County, one of the top juniors in the state led her team with 31 points including three three point baskets and nine rebounds. 5-5 Sr. Jordan Brock, one of the top seniors in the state was heroic in defeat as she recorded 48 points including 11 three three point baskets and connected on 13 free throws.
Harlan County shot 53.5% from the field including six of eight from the three point line. The Lady Bears connected on 17 of 21 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and committed 12 turnovers. Harlan shot 40.4% from the field including 16 of 41 from beyond the arc. The Lady Dragons connected on 14 of 14 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and committed eight turnovers.
6-0 Jr. Blair Green led Harlan County with 31 points and nine rebounds. 6-0 Jr. Kaylea Gross added 22 points and seven rebounds. 5-9 So. Breann Turner recorded 13 points and 5-7 Jr. Rebecca Middleton chipped in with 10 points and nine rebounds.
5-5 Sr. Jordan Brock led Harlan with 48 points including 11 three point baskets. 5-7 Jr. Noah Canady added nine points and 5-9 Jr. Mackenzie King chipped in with seven points.
