Eastern Illinois dominated play today in a 24-0 victory over Eastern Kentucky today. EKU was unable to generate offense with only 152 yards of total offense and also turned the ball over four times. The Colonels were unable to slow down Eastern Illinois’ ground game as they gained 304 yards on 59 carries for a 5.2 average. Eastern Illinois recorded 14 first downs and 431 yards of total offense. They were penalized 13 times for 95 yards and lost a fumble. Eastern Kentucky University recorded seven first downs and 152 yards of total offense. The Colonels were penalized seven times for 60 yards, lost three fumbles, and had a pass intercepted.
Devin Church led Eastern Illinois’ ground game with 177 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Korliss Marshall carried the ball nine times for 58 yards. Jared Pilson added 41 yards and a touchdown on 11 carries. Darshon McCullough carried the ball eight times for 24 yards and a touchdown. Jared Pilson completed eight of 11 passes for 127 yards. Devin Church caught two passes for 31 yards. Addison Bounds added two receptions for 29 yards. James Sheehan caught two passes for 24 yards. Anthony Taylor added one reception for 40 yards. Nick Horne led the defense with six solo and two assisted tackles with four of his tackles resulting in losses totaling 23 yards. Mack Weaver added two solo and four assisted tackles. David Johnson recorded two solo and two assisted tackles with 1.5 of his tackles resulting in losses totaling eight yards and recovered a fumble. Cornelius Page recovered a fumble and Tray Mitchell intercepted a pass.
Ethan Thomas led Eastern Kentucky’s ground game with 80 yards and 12 carries. Tyler Swafford completed eight of 18 passes for 80 yards with one interception. Ryan Markush caught five passes for 49 yards. Jared Sanders returned two kickoffs for 57 yards including a long return of 40 yards. Jeffrey Canady led the defense with five solo and 10 assisted tackles. Corey Glass added five solo and five assisted tackles. Nigel Bruce recorded six solo and three assisted tackles. Kiante Northington added five solo and two assisted tackles and recovered a fumble.
