November 14, 2016

UNCW coach Kevin Keatts started the following lineup: 6-5 So. CJ Bryce, 6-5 Sr. Chris Flemmings, 6-7 So. Devontae Cacok, 6-0 Sr. Denzel Ingram, and 6-2 Gr. Ambrose Mosley.  Eastern Kentucky University coach Dan McHale countered with 6-7 Jr. Zach Charles, 6-4 Sr. Jaylen Babb-Harrison, 6-9 So. Nick Mayo, 5-11 Fr. Asante Gist, and 6-2 Sr. Isaac McGlone.

UNC Wilmington finally pulled away in overtime to defeat a very determined Eastern Kentucky squad by a score of 78-69.  The Seahawks led by 17 points in the first half but Eastern Kentucky rallied and finally tied the game late in regulation.  The score was tied 63-63 at the end of regulation and took a 65-63 lead in overtime but UNC Wilmington finished the game on a 15-4 run.  Poor shooting (37.7%), turnovers (15), and the Seahawks control of the board on key possessions doomed the Colonels tonight.  Eastern Kentucky held a 24-5 advantage in free throw points and enjoyed a 15-9 advantage in three point points.

UNC Wilmington shot 46.1% from the field including three of 20 from the three point line.  The Seahawks connected on five of 10 free throws, pulled down 43 rebounds, and scored 26 pints off 15 Eastern Kentucky turnovers.  Eastern Kentucky shot 37.7% from the field including five of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Colonels connected on 24 of 31 free throws, pulled down 37 rebounds, and scored 11 points off eight UNC Wilmington turnovers.

CJ Bryce led UNC Wilmington with 21 points and seven rebounds.  Chris Flemmings added 18 points, 10 rebounds, and two blocked shots.  Devontae Cacok recorded 14 points and 13 rebounds.

Nick Mayo led Eastern Kentucky with 20 points and seven rebounds.  Asante Gist added 15 points including two three point baskets.  Isaac McGlone recorded 13 points including three three point baskets.  Zach Charles added six points and pulled down 14 rebounds.
