George Rogers Clark coach Scott Humphrey started the following lineup: 6-1 Sr. Braxton Greene, 5-10 Sr. Damion King, 6-3 So. Jerryd Jones, 5-9 Jr. Jyles Anderson, and 5-9 Sr. Malachi Israel. Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman countered with 6-5 Sr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Reese Ryan, 6-5 Sr. Walker Boothe, 5-10 Sr. Michael Talbott, and 6-2 Sr. Jarod Griffin.
George Rogers Clark led 34-32 at halftime but Lexington Catholic outscored the Cardinals 27-11 in the third quarter on their way to a 73-54 victory. Lexington Catholic blistered the nets for 75% in the second half to gain control of the game. There were 11 lead changes and six ties in this game. Lexington Catholic shot 59.6% from the field including seven of 14 from the three point line. The Knights connected on 10 of 14 free throws, pulled down 34 rebounds, and scored 15 points off 10 GRC turnovers. GRC shot 36.4% from the field including six of 15 from beyond the arc. The Cardinals connected on eight of 11 free throws, pulled down 23 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 13 Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Tanner Johnson led Lexington Catholic with 35 points including six three point baskets and six rebounds. Johnson was 14 of 19 from the field including six of 10 from beyond the arc, and one of two free throws. Michael Talbott added 14 points, four rebounds, and seven assists. Jarod Griffin chipped in with 10 points and five assists. Walker Boothe recorded six points and seven rebounds.
Jerryd Jones led GRC with 12 points and nine rebounds. Damion King added 10 points and 6-0 Jr. Jordan Menchen also scored 10 points including three three point baskets.
