Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Tanner Johnson, 6-3 Sr. Reese Ryan. 6-5 Sr. Walker Boothe, 5-10 Sr. Michael Talbott, and 6-2 Sr. Jarod Griffin. Madison Central coach Allen Feldhaus Jr. countered with 6-3 Jr. Cameron Thomas, 6-2 Jr. John Williams, 6-4 Sr. Sam Jones, 5-10 Jr. Terique Miller, and 5-11 Sr. Kirkland Humphrey.
Lexington Catholic defeated Madison Central by a score of 76-73 in a game that featured a 43 point outburst by Lexington Catholic’s Tanner Johnson and the long range marksmanship of Madison Central’s Kirkland Humphrey. There were six lead changes and two ties in this game. Lexington Catholic led 54-37 in the third quarter but had to withstand a furious Madison Central rally to earn the victory.
Lexington Catholic shot 51.7% from the field including 12 of 24 from the three point line. The Knights connected on four of eight from the free throw line, pulled down 26 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 14 Madison Central turnovers. Madison Central shot 52.8% from the field including 12 of 21 from beyond the arc. The Indians connected on five of eight free throws, pulled down 31 rebounds, and scored eight points off eight Lexington Catholic turnovers.
Tanner Johnson led Lexington catholic with 43 points including nine three point baskets, five rebounds, three blocked shots, and four steals. Jarod Griffin added 17 points including three three point baskets and three assists. Reese Ryan dished out 11 assists.
Kirkland Humphrey led Madison Central with 27 points including seven of eight three point baskets, five rebounds, and five assists. Terique Miller added 16 points including four three point baskets, six rebounds, and six assists. Sam Jones recorded 14 points and five rebounds. Cameron Thomas chipped in with seven points, eight rebounds, and five assists.
