Week in Review November 21, 2014 (Playoffs)

 

November 21st

 

Class 1A Playoffs

 

Beechwood 46  Frankfort 21Ethan Stringer carried the ball 30 times for 165 yards and three touchdowns and Joe Studer added 137 yards and four touchdowns on 13 carries to lead Beechwood.

Mayfield 42  Russellville 13Trajon Bright carried the ball 19 times for 259 yards and four touchdowns.

Raceland 32  Paintsville 21Josh Young ran for two touchdowns including a 63 yard run.

Williamsburg 48  Hazard 14 – Williamsburg improves their record to 13-0.

 

Class 2A Playoffs

 

DeSales 7  Christian Academy of Louisville 6Trent Jones blocks the extra point to ensure the victory.

Murray 47  Caldwell County 28Miles Desjahvonni completed seven of 13 passes for 223 yards and three touchdowns to lead Murray.  Caldwell County led 28-14 in the third quarter but Murray rallied for the victory.  Caldwell County QB Elijah Sindelar left the game in the first quarter with a knee injury.

Newport Central Catholic 42  Newport 26Jake Smith carried the ball 27 times for 176 yards and five touchdowns.

Shelby Valley 20  Prestonsburg 14 OT – The defense forced a turnover in overtime and Chandler Rowe scored the winning touchdown.

 

Class 3A Playoffs

 

Belfry 48  Lawrence County 14Austin Hatfield carried the ball 10 times for 146 yards and two touchdowns.

Central 36  Corbin 33 – Central rallied from a 26-0 deficit to win on an untimed play after time expired (a penalty was called on Corbin) on an eight yard touchdown pass from Myron Norfleet to Kambrin BrownMyron Norfleet completed 22 of 30 passes for 214 yards and four touchdowns.  Corbin was led by Jake Coppock who carried the ball 33 times for 221 yards and two touchdowns.

Russell 17  Bourbon County 7Jacob McKee and Nick Conley each scored a touchdown for Russell.

South Warren 36  Paducah Tilghman 0 - Austin McElwain scored three touchdowns for South Warren.

 

Class 4A Playoffs

 

Highlands 37  Covington Catholic 34Beau Hoge carried the ball 16 times for 191 yards and three touchdowns and completed 13 of 21 passes for 177 yards and two touchdowns.

Lexington Catholic 40  Boyle County 35Reese Ryan completed 14 of 17 passes for 266 yards and three touchdowns and carried the ball eight times for 102 yards and a touchdown.

North Oldham 47  Fairdale 18 – North Oldham threw the entire offensive package at Fairdale as Chris Webb and Arien Beasley each ran for over 100 yards, Taylor Heckenberg threw for four touchdowns, and Matt Clark caught four touchdown passes and scored on a 99 yard kickoff return.

Owensboro 29  Madisonville- North Hopkins 28 – Owensboro rallied from a 21-6 deficit to earn the victory.

 

Class 5A Playoffs

 

Cooper 61  Anderson County 14Torey Cordell-Armstrong carried the ball 31 times for 351 yards and four touchdowns.

Graves County 7  Bowling Green 0 Cory Crider scored on a 1 yard touchdown run snapping Bowling Green’s 53 game winning streak against Kentucky opponents.

John Hardin 7  Iroquois 6 – John Hardin blocked an extra point attempt to secure the win.

Pulaski County 24  Southwestern 16Riley Hall completed 17 of 26 passes for 203 yards and Caleb Cox ran for three touchdowns to lead the Maroons.

 

Class 6A Playoffs

 

Ballard 14  Butler 7Kenshawn Washington scored on a 4 yard QB option play to give Ballard the victory.

Dixie Heights 24  Simon Kenton 0 Drew Moore carried the ball 14 times for 183 yards and Luke Zajac added 143 yards on 25 carries and the Colonels’ defense was rock solid tonight.

Meade County 30  Central Hardin 8 – Meade County avenged an earlier loss this season and knocked Central Hardin from the unbeaten ranks.

Trinity 9  St. Xavier 3 – Trinity recorded eight QB sacks and Rodjay Burns intercepted two passes tonight.
