Madison Southern coach Summer Simmons started the following lineup: 5-10 Sr. Hayden Westfall, 5-9 Fr. Briana Lanham, 5-10 Sr. Sarah Smith, 5-4 So. Kelley Freeman, and 5-6 So. Samantha Parms.  Lafayette coach Allison Denton countered with 6-0 Jr. Sarah Cooley, 5-11 So. Dee Givens, 6-4 So. Ashanti Thomas, 5-6 Jr. Megumi Nagahiro, and 5-6 Jr. Ken’yale Demus.

Lafayette raced out to a 30-7 first quarter lead on their way to a 71-28 victory over Madison Southern.  Lafayette shot 54.4% from the field including six of 11 from the three point line.  The Lady Generals connected on three of six free throws, pulled down 36 rebounds, and scored 24 points off 19 Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 21.7% from the field including two of 17 from beyond the arc.  The Lady Eagles connected on six of 10 free throws, pulled down 28 rebounds, and scored four points off 10 Lafayette turnovers.

Dee Givens led Lafayette with 18 points, six assists, and four steals.  Givens was eight of nine from the field including two of three from the three point line.  Sarah Cooley added 14 points, eight rebounds, and four assists.  5-9 8th grade Kiara Pankins chipped in with 13 points including three three point baskets and seven rebounds.  Ken’yale Demus added 11 points and five assists.  Ashanti Thomas recorded five points, seven rebounds, and seven blocked shots.

Hayden Westfall led Madison Southern with seven points and six rebounds.  Briana Lanham added seven points and four rebounds.  Samantha Parms chipped in with six points on two three point baskets and five rebounds.
