Madison Southern (13-15)  vs.  Woodford County (19-9)

 

Madison Southern coach Shane Buttry started the following lineup: 6-3 Sr. Aaron Ponder, 6-2 Jr. Brandon McGuire, 6-2 So. Spencer Stone, 5-9 Sr. AJ Jeck, and 5-11 Jr. Chris Roberts.  Woodford County coach Scott Hundley countered with 6-4 Jr. David Greenwell, 6-1 Jr. Rodney Gross, 6-7 Jr. Jay Johnson, 5-3 Jr. Aaron Stover, and 5-11 Jr. William Starcher.

 

Woodford County defeated Madison Southern by a score of 56-50.  Madison Southern took a 32-31 lead in the third quarter but Woodford County rallied to actually lead 45-35 in the final quarter until Madison Southern cut the margin to four; 54-50 late in the game.

 

Woodford County shot 56.8% from the field including three of 13 from the three point line.  The Yellowjackets connected on 11 of 13 free throws, pulled down 33 rebounds, and scored 12 points off seven Madison Southern turnovers.  Madison Southern shot 34.6% from the field including six of 24 from beyond the arc.  The Eagles connected on eight of eight free throws, pulled down 19 rebounds, and scored 18 points off 16 Woodford County turnovers.

 

Jay Johnson led Woodford county with 20  points; 15 coming in the second half.  Johnson pulled down seven rebounds and blocked three shots.  David Greenwell added 17 points and six rebounds.  6-2 So. Landen Young recorded 10 points, eight rebounds, and six assists.

 

Brandon McGuire led Madison Southern with 18 points including three three point baskets.  Aaron Ponder added 13 points, seven rebounds, and five assists.  Chris Roberts chipped in with 10 points, four assists, and three steals.

Lexington Catholic (23-7)  vs.  Scott County (23-5)

 

Lexington Catholic coach Brandon Salsman started the following lineup: 6-5 Sr. Taylor Martin, 6-4 Sr. Scott Schuette, 6-5 Jr. Craig Floyd, 5-10 Jr. Brian Woomer, and 6-0 Sr. Seth Beckham.  Scott County coach Billy Hicks countered with 6-3 Jr. Tamron Manning, 6-2 Jr. Isaiah Ivey, 6-4 Sr. Tanner Shotwell, 5-10 So. Quinn Richardson, and 6-1 Jr. Josh Harris.

 

Lexington Catholic raced out to a 31-14 lead in the second quarter and held off a late Scott County rally to earn a 70-60 victory.  Seth Beckham was unstoppable early as he scored 14 points to lead Lexington Catholic to a 24-10  lead at the end of the first quarter.  Lexington Catholic shot a sizzling 63.2% from the field tonight and Scott county was plagued with foul woes as three starters (Tanner Shotwell, Tamron Manning, and Quinn Richardson fouled out.  Scott County could not find the range from the field tonight as they shot only 32.8% and even missed some dunk attempts.

 

Lexington Catholic shot 63.2% from the field including two of eight from the three point line.  The Knights connected on 20 of 35 free throws, pulled down 38 rebounds, and scored 19 points off 16 Scott county turnovers.  Scott County shot 32.8% from the field including three of 15 from beyond the arc.  The Cardinals connected on 13 of 21 free throws, pulled down 35 rebounds, and scored 16 points off 25 Lexington Catholic turnovers.

 

Seth Beckham led Lexington Catholic with 22 points and six rebounds.  Beckham was eight of eight from the field and six of nine from the free throw line.  Scott Schuette added 21 points and four rebounds.  Taylor Martin recorded 20 points and 12 rebounds. Beckham, Schuette, and Martin combined for 22-28 from the field.  Brian Woomer chipped in with two points, five rebounds, eight assists, and six steals.

 

Isaiah Ivey led Scott County with 21 points including two three point baskets.  Tanner Shotwell added 15 points and six rebounds.  6-0 Sr. Trey Reliford chipped in with 10 points.  Tamron Manning recorded nine points, 10 rebounds, and seven steals.
