31st Annual Rick Bolus’ High Potential® “Blue-Chip” Basketball Camp® 2010 Session 1

The Rick Bolus’ High Potential® 13th Annual Girls Basketball Showcase Mini-Camp will be held in Georgetown, KY at Georgetown College on July 16-17.  The second session of the 31st Annual Rick Bolus’ High Potential® “Blue-Chip” Basketball Camp® 2010 will be held July 18-22 in Georgetown, KY at Georgetown College.

However, before we forget about the first session I have a few thoughts about the session.  The major awards and the all camp selections went to some very deserving players but there were several other players that caught my attention for various reasons and I would like to mention them.  5-8 Jr. Anthony Myrks from Bardstown, KY picked up the nickname “Smurf” a few seasons ago before he added a few inches of height.  Myrks has excellent point guard skills and one of the largest “hearts” in the game.  He will battle you 32 minutes a game and his motor always revs at maximum RPMs.

Another player who impressed me was 5-11 Jr. Kyle Bush from Paul Blazer Ashland, KY.  Bush is a savvy, strong guard with a keen understanding of the game.  Bush was hampered by a slight injury that limited his jumping ability and the ability to push off that leg.  He still impressed with his ability to get to the basket and to hit the jump shot.

There were several players at this camp that played extremely well and displayed an excellent attitude and work ethic.  “Summer” basketball can be a long grind  now with all the camps and AAU events but for an “old-timer” like me it is refreshing to see so many young players perform that still display positive attitudes and work ethics.

The Rick Bolus’  High Potential® Blue-Chip Basketball Camp® is not affiliated with any other basketball camp using the name of either High Potential or Blue-Chip.
