Worth Its Weight In Gold
If someone tells you they are going to do something and they never get around to it.
You might say,
"They can Talk the Talk, but they can't Walk the Walk".
Or maybe you would say,
"His mouth wrote a Check, his Actions can't Cover".
But if someone tells you they have already DONE something and it isn't so?
We have different language for that.

Now sometimes a person can say something that isn't True and be Mistaken.
And sometimes they can be repeating something they were TOLD and that they BELIEVE to be True.
But when it concerns something that they said they had already done and it has not been done?
It is a pretty sure bet that they KNOW what they are saying is not the Truth.
We have different language for that.
We might say, "Him? His Word is worth its Weight in Gold.".
For anyone who makes the mistake of thinking that was a complement, just answer this question.
How much does a Word weigh?
The General Public does not know the details but most of us here can tell the author, I assume to be the LCRCC Webmaster has taking a shot at Me.
That really doesn't bother me,
Insults from some people can be considered a
Badge of Honor.
So while it may or may not be appropriate for the LCRCC Webmaster to use the Official Linn County Iowa GOP Website for a Personal attack, the real matter to me is that
He LIED
He Lied on the Official Linn County Iowa GOP Website
If we wish to tell people that our Party is the Ethical Alternative?
Maybe we should not allow people to lie on our official Website?
If any of my readers should come in contact with someone on the LCRCC Executive Committee they might ask them how they feel about this issue and what they plan to do about it?

Hey Daffy Dan (Kaufmann) maybe you should actually find out who made the posts you seem to be so frustrated with. I can guarantee you it was not me. I take too much pride in doing something right and have always stood up when I do good or bad.
Try looking at the other Admin posters.... There are many who have access from the Chair on down through the marketing team.... I rarely post anything these days as I do not have the time and worked hard to get the group to take ownership.
That must mean that Mr Knox is no longer posting or acting as an Admin on the LCRCC Facebook pages OR the LCRCC Website?
They still have all the duplicated posts that he has been so famous for and never has bothered to edit since he was fist setting up his auto posts.
So I don't see any change and I will take his claim "take too much pride in doing something right and have always stood up when I do good or bad."
With a grain of salt.

The Advisory Board Gag Order
Whispers on the Wind have told me there was a bit of contention at the last Advisory Board Meeting.
SOMEONE was asking Questions about the Caucuses particularly about the number of locations.
It seems they wanted some information in order to GASP try to give some Advice.
This is JUST NOT DONE under the New Administration.
You see there is Advice
And then there is Advice that has been APPROVED.
In other words if you are going to give Advice you will be TOLD when to give it and probably WHAT advice to give.
We have TEAMS that contol these things now under the Guidance of our Exective Committe and our County Chair Cindy Golding who I understand had quite a little fit.
Someone asking questions and attempting to give Advice at an Advisory Board Meeting??
The Very Idea!

Althea Cole move, "To conduct an online web and social media audit by Bill Dahlsten, former Chair of the Communications Committee, and the Team Leader of the Marketing and PR Team Lead, Frank Sladek, so we may take a look at our successes and our failures of all our online footprint of the Linn County Republican Central Committee."
The Chair referred the request to the Marketing and Public Relations Team.
A Member of the Body Made a MOTION

Just Censorship
Quite Illegal by the way at least if you give any credence to the County Constitution, By Laws or Rules of Order
Which this Exectutive Committee and this Chair Cindy Golding do not seem to bother to do if it would interfere with what they want.

Pinocchio Awards
Some of our News Media have taken to awarding what they call Pinocchios for statements they find shall we say Dubious.
A few days ago I wrote a post commenting on some of the failings of the LCRCC Facebook Fanpage to wit duplicate postings and photos rotated 90 degrees from what they should be or laying on their sides.
I got a response yesterday on the Linn County GOP website.
After reading it and checking a few details I am trying to decide exactly how many Pinocchios to award it.
Maybe my readers can help me.

Our complainer couldn't help at the fair. None of his fellow complainers could also help at the fair. Doesn't seem very Fair, does it?

I was ELATED. I mean FINALLY after multiple postings on this site and multiple people pointing out things like this in the Facebook Fanpage Comments

Turns out they just CLAIMED they fixed it

The only thing I can determine is that the author of

Or lives in another universe that has a much different temporal flow so that an hour has not in fact passed since the posting.
Be that as it may there was some VERY exciting news in this posting
Linn County Republicans holding a Chili Cook-Off Fundraiser.
Linn County Republicans improving profitability of Fundraiser for over a fifty fold increase.
Now that is exciting. A Fifty fold increase in profitablity of the Chili Cook Off
Why that would mean if they kept to their two hour time schedule, they would have served over 5000 people
Almost 1 a second
If each person got say a cup (8 oz) of Chili
Why that would have been over 340 gallons
Not to mention the 27 thousand dollars they would have had to make to end up with a fifty fold ( 50 times) profitability!
I WILL be expecting our next Treasurers report to reflect this increase in the LCRCC Bank Account.
Still in all I am puzzled by the claim that

If You Can't Even Run A Facebook Page?
I received the following from one of my Readers
Dan, this is one of the many participants on the previous committee known as the Communications Committee.
Since the Communications Committee was annihilated by the current administration through shady tactics, could you please ask the body through your the following questions.
My first question is how many people were on the previous committee with the administration of both the website and the Facebook page?
I at least and would love to see an improvement on the Linn County Republican Central Committee website and Facebook page.
My second question is are you aware if the current executives allow anybody but the webmaster to be in control of the information being posted on the Facebook and website?
The reason I asked that is because it appears that the webmaster and the executives that are currently listed as administrators don't seem to have the time to do a professional or even a half ass job.
My last question to you
What can we do as central committee members to help the Communications Committee effort performed by the webmaster for the Linn County Central Committee website?
I will try to address each question in order
The former Communications Sub Committee met on Saturday Nights at the Starlite and usually had at least 10 members attending sometimes as many as 15.
The Very last meeting we held before we were purged was attended by both the Treasurer and the Co-Chair so anyone who wishes to verify my statement can ask Mr Mason
We had about 5 or 6 Admins if memory serves 3 who were active most of the time and 3 who could step in and pick up the slack if one of the primary Admins were gone for some reason
As for the present situation, To my knowledge there are only THREE Admins the Chair Cindy Golding the Co Chair Brett Mason and the Webmaster James Knox.
I have observed Brett Mason doing some Admin activity. I am not certain how much the Chair Cindy Golding or the Webmaster James Knox are doing considering the pathetic condition of the LCRCC's Facebook Fan Page
To answer the last quesiton. The Body needs to recognize that what we have now is not working. We DID have a vibrant effective and structured Communications Sub Committee with a very good attendence,
We replaced it with a Marketing & PR Team that has almost no attendence or engagement of the membership
One of the last meetings I have heard about the only member of the original 4 there was the Team Leader Frank Sladek so there was only ONE voting member. I really do not think that constitutes a quorum, his son and two people who were on the former Communications Sub Committee
In other words they Broke Something that did not need Fixed and Replaced it with somehting that IMO is not Working
NONE of the original Team INCLUDING the Team Leader were allowed to have Admin privileges
The Body needs to use its Constitutional Powers and Order several changes
One Everyone on a Team should have Voting Rights
Two Everyone should be allowed to decide what Team THEY want to be on and not leave it up to the Team Leaders
Obviously if only one of the original members of a Team is showing up and no one else is bothering to,
There is something wrong.

But the poster did not even bother to put the photos up correctly.
Check the dates they have been up for almost Two weeks and NO One with Admin privileges has bothered to fix that mess.
No wonder we are told Linn County is the laughing stock of Iowa
If we had the Old Communications Sub Committee back in order, with the Admin privileges needed to do the work
We would not have had this mess in the first place and if we recalled those members we had then
It would take LESS than ONE Day to Clean Up the Mess
Something needs to be done that is for sure
We need to go back to when the Body actually got to do its job without having its hands tied behind its back

Mr Mason is actually correct when he states
"The Body is following the Rules.

We know that we have a Chair who refused to pay a debt authorised by a Vote of the Body,
a violation of the County Constitution
We know that we have a Chair who when told by a Treasurer that they would not sign a check because it was over the limit that required a Vote of the Body to be authorised talked the Co-Chair into signing it
TWO Violations of the By Laws
We KNOW that the Claim made by the Executive Board when they rushed a vote eliminating the Sub Committees and creating the Teams
That
One) All Motions made before the Officers Elections were voided by that and
Two) that one of the foremost parliamentarians in the Iows GOP told them that
WAS NOT TRUE
We also know that the Webmaster James Knox on January 28 ASKED that very question on the Official Roberts Rules of Order Discussion Forum and was told that was NOT the case'
They even referenced the portion of the Roberts Rules of Order Newly Revised 11 Edition where that information could be found
Page 111 a footnote at the bottom of the page which states that unless a Motion has a Sunset Clause it stays in effect unless rescended by a vote of the Body
Now it is true that Lying to the Body is not Breaking any particular Rule
But I do think that it DOES speak to whether
" the leaders have clean hands. "
ALL of the above is a matter of public Record.
I challenge the Executives to present the FACTS that show I am a Socialist instead of merely spouting Innuendo and Lies.
Personally I find the contention that if I do not crouch down and lick the hands of the Executive Commitee it means I am a Socialist

Thoughts On A Caucus
Some thoughts on Caucuses by someone with decades of experience.

Linn County's 2016 Republican Precinct Caucuses
I have attended every Republican precinct caucus wherever I have lived in Iowa since 1972. I am sharing some observations made over those years.
There is a huge difference when it comes to caucusing in a contested presidential year. The usual handful in an off year sweells in largely Republican precincts to well over 100. In 2012, 230 votes were cast in what then was CR 41
We almost filled the Lutheran Church event room with Republicans in 2012. The hall was sealed at 7:00 P. M. We had little difficulty verifying that only qualified residents of the precinct could participate. The room allowed us to conduct our caucus with no distractions.
Presidential preference ballots were counted in the kitchen. This gave representatives from all candidates present a chance to work undisturbed as they counted ballots. It went smoothly.
I have seen a single site in Linn County used for all Republicans to caucus twice. It was done in 2004 when President George W. Bush was unchallenged for the nomination. It was done in the off year of 2014.
Single site caucuses are good for one thing only; publicity.
More Republicans are likely to attend a caucus in, or near their neighborhood. In a caucus influencing who will be the next president, the vast majority attending come to vote their choice for president and leave.
These are the faithful Republican voters of November who are otherwise not active. They are not interested in driving half way across town, paying to park, listening to long list of speakers etc. before casting a presidential preference.
Having individual precincts caucus in a large hall is not easy. In 2004 and 2014 people were wandering around wondering where their caucus was. Add to that the din of caucuses meeting nearby. It was messy.
In 2004 and 2014 it was largely the faithful who attended. Their numbers were far lower than a presidential caucus with more than an incumbent seeking the nomination. It is not unreasonable to expect 10,000 to 12,000 Republicans to attend the 2016 Iowa presidential caucuses in Linn County.
It is the Linn County Republican Party Central Committee's responsibility to organize the 2016 caucuses. It is essential that Linn County Republicans organize the caucuses so as to encourage the largest possible participation. It is essential that the caucuses run as smoothly as possible.
The 2016 caucuses are not about obtaining publicity at a single location. Confusion and frustration at a single, or too few sites will generate negative publicity.
The Linn County Republican Party Central Committee must endeavor to hold precinct caucuses within the respective precincts as far as is practical.
Doing so worked in 2012 and for years before that.

The Keystone Fanpage
In this chaotic world it is nice to know there is some consistency
If I happen to be paused on what to write in my nightly blog address

I can always go to the Linn County GOP Political Organizaton Fanpage
I am not quite sure if it is put together so that it looks like the incompetent efforts of rank amateurs on purpose
Or do they just lack the resources to do it right?

The Format seems to be based on the principle of
We are not certain you will see a Post
So let's just put up multiple posts of the same thing so you won't miss them?
At least right now we are given double posts in the past we have had to wade through 4 of each one.
I don't know how the Fanpage ends up with all those duplicate posts, nor do I know how to prevent it.
That would be the author of this pathetic unprofessional mess.
I know how to correct the problem.
Facebook allows Admins to DELETE Posts,
All that is needed is for someone with Admin privileges to go through and delete the extra posts.
This is NOT rocket science any reasonably bright grade school child could IMO be taught how to do this
It does however appear to be beyond the capabilities of those who are in control the LCRCC Social Media.
We can tell on the Facebook Group Page that there we have 4 Admins , the Chair Cindy Golding, the Co Chair Brett Mason and the Webmaster James Knox
That is only 3 you say?
True for some reason Mr Knox is listed twice as Admin accounting for the 4 Admins posted.
If they cannot keep the Officlal Linn County GOP Facebook Fanpage tidied up why not appoint MORE ADMINS?
Like pershaps AT LEAST
the Team Leader of the Marketing & PR Team
–which is responsible for Public relation
communications, internal and external messaging.
We MIGHT even give him the power to appoint other Admins from their Team
Of course they would need to make sure that person was capable of looking at duplicate posts
And thinking
There are TWO of them
I will click DELETE on ONE of them DUH
That would be important because we do not seem to have anyone either capable or willing to do that at present.

The Price Of Early
They say the Early Bird gets the Worm
But sometimes being Early can result in Complications
I and a friend went to the State Capital this last Saturday to watch the GOP State Central Committee in Action
One of the things they dealt with was the new Rule about Binding Delegates at the Caucus.
One issue that was explored was what to do if after the Caucuses a Candidate who had acquired enough votes to be allocated delegates dropped out
One of the members stated that it might look silly to stand up at the National Convention and cast votes for someone who was no longer running,
There is some truth to that
The RPI had submitted a plan to the RNC which addressed that.
The idea was to allocate the voters among the remaining candidates still running
At first glimpse that seems to have the appearance of Fairness
However the RNC returned that even if a candidate dropped out of a race their votes should still be bound and entered on the First Ballot.
I believe they are correct.
It does not matter if it looks silly to cast votes for someone who has withdrawn from a race,
Those ARE the ballots cast by the Voters.
There is a profound Matter of Ethics involved here
While on the surface it might appear fair to allocate the voters among those candidates that remain in the Race,
The Reality is NO ONE has the Right to decide who a voter would have voted for if their choices had been different.
In this respect the concept of "fairness" is wrong.
We have no way of knowing if the Voters would have spread evenly among the remaining candidates.
They might very well ALL or MOST have moved to ONE Candidate they felt was closest to their origninal choice,
That CAN be the Price of Early
Just like someone who fills out an Absentee Ballot as soon as possible
If their candidate drops out before the Election, a Primary say.
Who They voted for is who they voted for
There is no way to determine how they would have voted if they had to choose between those left in the Race,
So it is for Iowa
If the possiblity of a large number of Caucus Votes going to candidates who drop out before the Convention is a matter of Great Concern?
Then we should abstain from being First in the Nation,
If we wish to be First in the Nation
Then we must accept

Those Who Forget
They say those who forget the Past are doomed to repeat it.
Recently I got to thinking about one of the First Hate Mail Letters I recieved and a portion of it came to mind.
My reaction was
That's not right.
here it is.
This blogger is reminiscing about the past ten years of the Linn County Republican Central Committee. But where is his reality ... lost in the night sky? Buried under a rock? Fell into the toilet? He revels in the past performance of the LCRCC. Interesting because his memory is delusional, they didn't elect a single Republican.
That is certainly an extreme statement.
At First glance one might assume it is true, because after all it would be a matter of public record would it not?
Of course it is and the record of the sucess or failures of the Linn County Republican Party can be found

And when we look there we can find that what the person who on that letters return address calls themself A Real Republican claims i
Dead Wrong
For example just a little over 10 years ago we had this result in the 2004 Election
ROGER GROBSTICH DEM 8360 48.33%
KRAIG PAULSEN REP 8928 51.61%
Write-in Votes 11 0.06%
Yes our own Kraig Paulson who is now Speaker of the House was Elected.
As well as 9 other Republcans in Local Elections one of them being Mary Lundby.
In latter years other Republcans also got elected and of course Mr Paulsen continued to be re elected.
Now the question before us seems to be
Is Mr Real Republican
Forgetful
Ignorant
Has their own unique definition of the phrase "
they didn't elect a single Republican.
which would mean that they also have their own unique definition of
delusional
Or is Mr Real Republican simply Lying to create the Illution of a Truth that does not exist because they believe we are too STUPID to look up the Public Record?
It is not like the members of the LCRCC have not had that happen to them in the not so distant past.
Still I have a hard time understanding the thinking of someone who Lies about something that is in the Public Record
I mean this IS the 21st Century you can with a few clicks of your mouse pull up the Recordon your Monitor
Then I recall Mr Real Republican DID send this to me via an envelope with a Stamp on it
So maybe they are stuck in the Past
But it does seem to be a Past of their own Creation and not the one the Restof the World shares.
