Strongly Disapprove
and
Definitely Vote Against
It is sometimes hard to compare two polls whose labels use different language, but I will make an attempt.
I will start with the assumption that
Strongly Disapprove (of) is equivalent to (will)Definitely Vote Against.
Does that sound reasonable? I do not think that
Somewhat Disapprove (of) relates the same animus as (will)Definitely Vote Against.
If you do not agree, then please explain your Logic in my comments section.
The reason for my writing the above in such ambiguous terms is because we are often Inundated with polemics about Bush's declining Poll Numbers while at the same time Hillary Clinton is mentioned in hush terms as the most likely Candidate to get the Democratic Presidential Nomination in 2008 and lead them to a Final Solution vis a vis the Repugicans.
So what
IS the Reality?
Here are the latest results on the Rasmussen Polling Site (who favored Kerry in the last election, I might add for balance)
.
I have made the jpgs above hyperlinks to the pertinent articles, be advised as time goes on the figures will alter in the articles.
But it does seem to me that the catastrophic Non-approval rating for Bush of
"Strongly Disapprove(e) 40%"
bears a strong resemblance to the Non-approval rating of Hillary
"Def(initely) Vote Against 39%"
What do YOU think?

Burns: Illegal immigrants shouldn't be counted in Census
Last night the creator of the
Coalition Against Illegal Immigration emailed a request for posts on the topic of the above article.
I have related some of this issue arising from the fact that Congressional Apportionment, is at the present time, decided not by the enumeration of Citizens in the Census but by counting ALL residents, Citizen, Resident LEGAL Aliens and ILLEGAL Aliens, in my previous posts.
Should Illegal Aliens Determine the Presidency of the United States?
The Curious Case
of Congressional Apportionment
and
When They Stole
the House of Representatives
from the Citizens of AmericaMy good friend Debbie Hamilton at Right Truth echos my sentiments in
It's not about immigration, it's about power
It is a topic very much on my mind, I am pleased that a member of Congress has at last taken a stand on it.
Independent Record - Montana Sen. Conrad Burns has proposed excluding illegal immigrants from the congressional apportionment process, a move that could shift House seats from growing border states to smaller states with lower immigrant populations.
Actually this should not come as any surprise without the Non-Citizen count in the Census, Montana would have
two seats in the House of Representatives instead of its present
one seat.
I defy anyone to find logic that justifies a State being denied the representatives in Congress that its population of
Citizens entitles it by a count of Alien residents. Those States that from this travesty of Justice could try, but their words would ring hollow.
Burns, R-Mont., introduced legislation Tuesday that would require the Secretary of Commerce, who oversees the Census Bureau, to adjust the population numbers used to apportion congressional seats to exclude illegal immigrants.
The Census Bureau does not currently distinguish illegal immigrants in its population estimates gathered every 10 years.
Montana has one House seat for about 920,000 people, while the average member represents about 650,000. Burns says that the nation's estimated 11 million to 12 million illegal immigrants are distorting Montana's congressional representation.
"If these trends continue, we will be looking at upwards of 15 million illegal aliens in the United States for the 2010 census, maybe more," Burns said Tuesday. "And the result will be more seats lost in states that have actually increased in population of law-abiding U.S. citizens."
15 million Illegal Aliens would equate to about 23 seats in the House. Where would they go? Well just look at these maps of the last two National Elections compared with the distribution of Non-Citizens, it will be apparent
It is said a Picture is worth a thousand words so let me illustrate the issue pictorially.
Here is an active gif showing the political alignment of the last two Presidential Elections
Here is map of the Distribution of Non Citizen over the United States.
Do you have the Picture now?To continue
Steven Camarota, research director at the Washington-based Center for Immigration Studies, says the proposal has good intentions but could be difficult to implement.
The Census Bureau could ask immigrants if they are in the United States illegally, he said, but that would require changing census forms and trusting people to answer the question honestly.
Part of me likes this guys logic, After all people also lie on their Tax forms so he has created a compelling reason to disband the IRS and discontinue Personal Income Tax!Not really the bovine byproduct this man would be best used plowed into the ground to inspire turnips than as a reasoned statement of Government Policy.
If an Alien is in this country they would have a passport? Passports have numbers on them, when you fill out an entry ticket you write that down, If you have a Visa or a Greencard they also have identifiers?
If the numbers don't match the person doesn't count. It is that simple AND by devising away to set aside even LEGAL Aliens we would be able to limit Congressional Apportionment to the
CITIZEN Count, as it should be.
"The bottom line is that you are opened up to all kinds of legal and practical challenges," he said. "The way to fix it is to have a whole lot fewer illegals."
A 2003 report written by Camarota's group calculated that the presence of illegal immigrants cost Montana a seat it would have otherwise gained.
"Thankfully, my state of Montana cannot lose any more seats in the House of Representatives," Burns said. "We are down to our last one. Other states, however, will not be so fortunate."
Since when have
AMERICANS shirked
challenges? Also,
Laws are what we pay Congress to
WRITEI for one would like to start getting my moneys worth. I for one
demand that Congress do its
Job on this issue.
Now when Brian sent out his Call to Action Email, Article Needs writing, I had just started work and I confess I did stop at a restaurant to eat afterwords.
So I would expect there have been a few other posts on this issue. Let me try to find Links to them now.,

Now here is a proposal that makes sense. A Montana Senator is proposing we not count illegal aliens invaders during the 10 year census for Congressional apportionment.
I?m all for this. I think it is patently unfair to non-border states

Zacarias Moussaoui
NOT
Going Straight To Paradise
He will be the Guest of the United States of America
FIRST
This outcome I really approve of. Not because
I wish to be merciful, do not approve of the death penalty or have any other qualms, but because instead, I am vindictive and vengeful.
You see this guy truly believes that if he dies for the True Faith he goes straight to Paradise with all sorts of fringe benefits.
the deposition, presented by prosecutors to build their case that Moussaoui was a serious terrorist threat, al-Attas said Moussaoui talked about holy war every day when they roomed together, taught him martial arts and proposed sending him to Pakistan to learn the Islamic militant justification for jihad.
"Your obligation, like any other Muslim, is to be ready for jihad," he quoted Moussaoui as telling him. Al-Attas also said Moussaoui told him: "This is the only way for me to get to paradise."
I feel in making the punishment, not just fit the crime but the criminal.
So in this case execution, would be doing him a favor! Yes I also have no doubts he will be headed for some hotter climate than basking in divine luxury catered to for all time by 72 eternal virgins, but what
I believe has no real bearing.
What he believes does.
SO I want him to be pointed at a cell and told,
"Get used to it m'boy, because you will be spending quite a few decades here, no rapid trip to Paradise for you!"
And when his body starts wearing out in 50 or 60 years, I hope our technology has advanced by then that we can keep him corporeal for an indefinite time.
Did I mention I am vindictive and vengeful?
Here is the time line of
Major events in Moussaoui's case
It starts
2001
-Feb. 26-May 29: Moussaoui trains at Norman, Okla., flight school but doesn't get pilot's license.
Aug. 17: Moussaoui arrested on immigration charges
after arousing suspicion at a Minnesota flight school by asking to learn to fly a Boeing 747
and it ends
-April 20: Testimony concludes in the trial.
-April 24: The jury begins deliberations after the prosecution and defense present their closing arguments.
- May 3: A federal jury spared Moussaoui from execution, deciding he will spend the rest of his life in prison
I understand as he was leaving the courtroom he hollered out
"
"America you lost!" Moussaoui shouted as he left the courtroom after hearing the verdict. He clapped his hands and yelled, "I won!"
"Anti-death penalty activists said the case showed U.S. juries were less willing to impose capital punishment than in the past, even in a case of such wrenching emotion."
Not really at least on my part I want him to suffer for a
long time, not meet a quick ending.
Some folks prat about wanting "closure" from the horrors of Sept 11, I prefer a
ReckoningWhen he gets to where he is going to spend the rest of his life, someone should ask him after the door clanks shut.
"Does this look like winning Punk?"You know something? To be a Shaheed Martyr and Gazzi (Holy) Warrrior, you have to DIE FIGHTING for
the True Faith, I am not certain waiting around to die of Old Age qualifies. ;-)
Who knows with the advancements in Medical Science, maybe we can keep his body functioning indefinitely.
Trap him forever in corporeal form, never achieving Paradise. I would want him to KNOW this and I would want any other wannabe Martyrs to know it as well.
Here is my wish for a
LONG Life for Zacarias Moussaoui.
May he never die.

Pinko De Mayo
Well it is 2 days until Cinco de Mayo and it is 2 days since Pinko de Mayo. It is nice when the Universe shows Symetry isn't it?
I wish I could take credit for this play on words but cudos belong to

"Happy May Day Pinkos! 05/01/06
Want to give a quick shout out to all the left-wingers. Enjoy your May Day, a day for you to express solidarity with all your fellow commies. Of course May 1st being International Labor Day is part of the reason America Celebrates its own Labor Day back in September. Not that Pinkos have much to celebrate anymore, thanks to the complete annihilation of the Soviet Union That caused the extreme left a little bit of a problem, namely, the tyrants before which they supplicated themselves for so long were gone. But never fear, They found themselves new ones. Nevermind that their new Islamo-Fascist overlords don't even bother with the usual leftist clap trap of joyful collectivization and "From each according to their abilities, to each according to their needs." What matters is that they are against America and the West. So congratulations to the Pinkos. Today is Your Day."Now we don't just label folks Pinkos and Poslyene Idioti (Useful Idiots) because they happen to do something on May Day. No in this case it is not necessary to make that leap.
All we have to do is look at the main organisation that organised these demonstrations ANSWER.

English: I demand full rights and equality for all immigrants living in the United States. Neoliberal economic policies targeting Latin America, like NAFTA and CAFTA, have pushed millions of people into abject poverty. Immigrants are forced to come to the U.S. to look for work. Nobody should be criminalized for attempting to survive. No human being is illegal. Racism against immigrants emanates from the same forces behind the U.S. war to conquer and control the wealth of Iraq.

The UN's "Borderless" World
Citizens are demanding that their government ensure effective protection at the borders against more illegal entrants, who at the very least will become tax burdens on the American people and could pose a much more serious security threat. Congress and the President must decide what to do about this mounting problem, consistent with the tenets of the U.S. Constitution. Our democratic institutions can and must handle this situation without any outside interference.
The United Nations sees the matter differently. Its bureaucrats envision a ?borderless? world where immigration is treated as an international human rights issue and used as a global development tool to encourage free movement of the developing countries? poor to developed nations. This philosophy underlies their preparations for the United Nations High Level Dialogue concerning international migration and development, scheduled to take place in conjunction with the fall 2006 General Assembly session. They want the agenda for this Dialogue to center on the relationship between international migration and the economic and social development of the poorer countries in the world.
The UN bureaucrats? aggressive push into the immigration debate fits in with their dogmatic belief that international treaties should trump national sovereignty prerogatives ? in this case, a UN treaty that codifies the internationalization of immigration policy called the International Convention on the Protection of the Rights of All Migrant Workers and Members of their Families. This Convention was adopted by the General Assembly in 1990 but went into effect in 2003 after the twentieth signing country formally ratified it. It is heavily biased against countries like the United States which receive the lion?s share of illegal aliens.Still it is not the Day they chose nor just the philsophy they espouse on their website that justifies the Pinko label but the origins of this group.
Christopher Hitchens lays this out perfectly in

Anti-War, My Foot
The phony peaceniks who protested in Washington.
By Christopher Hitchens
Updated Monday, Sept. 26, 2005, at 2:19 PM ET
Are they really "anti-war"?
Saturday's demonstration in Washington, in favor of immediate withdrawal of coalition forces from Iraq, was the product of an opportunistic alliance between two other very disparate "coalitions." Here is how the New York Times (after a front-page and an inside headline, one of them reading "Speaking Up Against War" and one of them reading "Antiwar Rallies Staged in Washington and Other Cities") described the two constituenciess of the event:
The protests were largely sponsored by two groups, the Answer Coalition, which embodies a wide range of progressive political objectives, and United for Peace and Justice, which has a more narrow, antiwar focus.
The name of the reporter on this story was Michael Janofsky. I suppose that it is possible that he has never before come across "International ANSWER," the group run by the "Worker's World" party and fronted by Ramsey Clark, which openly supports Kim Jong-il, Fidel Castro, Slobodan Milosevic, and the "resistance" in Afghanistan and Iraq, with Clark himself finding extra time to volunteer as attorney for the genocidaires in Rwanda. Quite a "wide range of progressive political objectives" indeed, if that's the sort of thing you like. However, a dip into any database could have furnished Janofsky with well-researched and well-written articles by David Corn and Marc Cooper?to mention only two radical left journalists?who have exposed "International ANSWER" as a front for (depending on the day of the week) fascism, Stalinism, and jihadism.
The group self-lovingly calling itself "United for Peace and Justice" is by no means "narrow" in its "antiwar focus" but rather represents a very extended alliance between the Old and the New Left, some of it honorable and some of it redolent of the World Youth Congresses that used to bring credulous priests and fellow-traveling hacks together to discuss "peace" in East Berlin or Bucharest. Just to give you an example, from one who knows the sectarian makeup of the Left very well, I can tell you that>b> the Worker's World Party?Ramsey Clark's core outfit?is the product of a split within the Trotskyist movement. These were the ones who felt that the Trotskyist majority, in 1956, was wrong to denounce the Russian invasion of Hungary. The WWP is the direct, lineal product of that depraved rump. If the "United for Peace and Justice" lot want to sink their differences with such riffraff and mount a joint demonstration, then they invite some principled political criticism on their own account. And those who just tag along ? well, they just tag along.Oh and of course the usual rant is always
"Racism against immigrants emanates from the same forces behind the U.S. war to conquer and control the wealth of Iraq.Which is ironic because
1) I have nothing against IMMIGRANTs I do have something against ILLEGAL Aliens and there IS a difference!
2) I am not alone I am in acord with the same sentiments as some LATINOS. Do they also exhibit racism against Immigrants?
From the
Gates of Vienna I found a link to
"Josue Sierra, the proprietor of the blog Latino Issues. Mr. Sierra is one of the forgotten Latinos, because his parents are Cuban, and, as we all know, Cubans are not ?real? Hispanics. Their first sin is to reject Fidel?s socialist paradise. Then they tend to arrive in this country with a love for liberty and an enthusiasm for America, and that just won?t do, will it? Not only that, they often ? gasp! ? vote Republican."Here is a taste of Mr Sierra
Reader, "I will vote for those candidates that will not tolerate illegal alliens""From a reader, here is what I suspect is going to be the true result of these mass rallies and the boycott.
While politicians like pandering to the masses--a problem from since the Roman Empire--in our country, the voters (you know, those citizens registered to vote) will decide.
I do not have symphaty with the illegals and the marchers of May 1st. I am a naturalized citizen myself, but I did it the legal way. I am going to the poll today and I will vote for those candidates that will not tolerate illegal alliens, especialy those people that hates America and carrying anti american slogans.
"So I submit those who oppose the massive influx of Illegal Aliens are NOT racist, but those who have sponsored the drive for
Immigrant Rights? have a political agenda that is contrary to our Democratic Way of Life.
Let your Congressmen know that you expect them to represent YOU and not ANSWER or the UN.

Words by: Adam Gottlob Oehlenschlager
Music by: Hans Ernst Kr?yer
Adopted: 1844
"Derer et yndigt land" was first performed for a large gathering of Danes in 1844, and became popular quickly with the Danish people. It was adopted later that year by the Danish government as a national anthem, but not the sole national anthem. This anthem is on equal status with "Kong Christian",which is both the national and royal anthem.
When the Danish anthem is usually performed or sung, the first verse is played in its entirety, then it is followed by the last four lines of the last verse. (This is true whether the lyrics are sung or not

The Night They Burned Down The ROTC Building.
This is really a portion of a post I wrote last fall called.
Things Are Not Always As They Seem
But when I read Michelle Malkin's article
MORE RECRUITERS UNDER ATTACK
and
University of North Carolina ROTC Armory Vandalized
by BLACKFIVE
I could not resist reprinting this portion.
To the best of my knowledge the events I recount here are true. Recalled after some 30 years for reasons that will become apparent as your read the following.
"While I was reading this and like matters I got to thinking how different reality is from what most of the public perceive it and I recalled some events from my youth.
I will take a moment here to reminisce. Some may find this tale humorous some may not.
First I must provide some perspective and location.
I graduated from High School in 1969, some of you will recall those days, a time of great upheaval here at home and abroad.
I did not go to the University, until the Fall of 1971, my first two years I spent at a local Community College branch of the University of Kentucky.
I missed quite a bit of the excitement by staying home those two years. One particular incident I missed at UK was the night they burned down the ROTC Building A blow for the Revolution!
I say they, because I was about 300 miles away when it happened and had no involvement. But after wards at UK and during the years later I met quite a few who were very proud that we burned down the ROTC Building. Really, I thought there were far too many "we's" for all of them to have been involved, but some people do like glory through Association.
What divides me from them is that I know the real truth about what was done that night. I learned it from a girl I met on campus.
Maureen was a very pretty girl, which might account for my clear recollection of the tale she told after all these years.
Was she a Revolutionary, and Anarchist, a Sister in the Struggle? No, Maureen was a Dancer. A Ballet Dancer actually with the UK Dance Company.
Maureen also had a severe handicap, which was revealed to me by one of her closest friends. Ballerinas start training when they are not much older than babies, toddlers even and Maureen was VERY good at what she did, but alas she did NOT have the Classic Ballerina Build, she was how shall I put it? Too top heavy. EXTREMELY topheavy. Believe me, when those bright blue eyes flashed and her face flushed with emotion and and the Twin Peaks moved, your attention was RIVETED.
Maureen was very bitter about the Night They Burned Down the ROTC Building. No she was not a Young Republican, she was just a Dancer, but you see,
the ROTC had not used that building in YEARS.
The Fine ARTS Dept used it instead to store the Props and Costumes for the Theater and Dance Company! It was a case of Improper Target Identification and a lack of Intelligence in ALL the definitions of the term.
Over the years I have had the great pleasure of running into people who went to UK at that period of time and look back on their Revolutionary Youth with great Pride,
I just love it when they say, "Yeah man, WE burned down the ROTC Building!" and I get to see the confusion in their face when I reply, "Yeah that certainly was a Great Blow in the Struggle Against Culture!". "Rise up and throw off the Shackles of Ballet and Theater?"
Then when I explain with disgust what actually happened that night, and how long it took the Fine Arts Dept to recoup the blow to its budget, there is that moment, when I can see ALL of their Youthly Illusions Shatter, and Die,
Now, I want you to know, I am not an unfeeling person, I get a great deal of delight from these experiences. ;-)
The Lesson of this tale is always verify,
Things Are Not Always As They Seem."

Hurricane Fables
Topic: Global Warming
I am bumping this post up to the present inspired by the comprehensive article recently in Cox & Forkum on this topic
The Real Recycling Problem
"Collusion? Forget the oil industry. You have to wonder about the media and environmental scare-mongers. TIME magazine's recent cover story on global warming warned ominously: "Be Worried, Be Very Worried." This week CNN reported: Experts: Global warming behind 2005 hurricanes. And conveniently, this latest round of alarmism comes just in time for the release of Al Gore's global-warming shockumentary "An Inconvenient Truth".
Fortunately not all media are on the apocalyptic band wagon. More articles are appearing that critique "climate change" doomsaying and environmentalism. Here are a few:"In addition I have an article which gives a different viewpoint than is normally disseminated on what exactly prevented the acceptance of the Kyoto Treaty by the US.

Gore In The Balance

Atmospherics: In 1900, before hurricanes had names, a Category 4 slammed into Galveston, Texas, killing about 8,000 people. And neither global warming nor George W. Bush was to blame. But try telling that to Al Gore.
Hurricanes are unpredictable. In other words, unlike Bush critics who blame his policies for virtually everything except the common cold and original sin. Former Vice President Gore, author of "Earth in the Balance," which proclaimed that the internal combustion engine was the greatest threat mankind ever faced, is no exception.
After a noble deed, personally helping airlift some 270 Katrina evacuees on two private charters from New Orleans to Tennessee on Sept. 3 and 4, he journeyed to San Francisco on Sept. 9 to address a convention of the National Sierra Club. There, he delivered a speech he'd been scheduled to give in New Orleans, one literally blaming Bush for Hurricane Katrina and its consequences.
After repeating the charge that Bush ignored warnings in August 2001 of an imminent al-Qaida attack, Gore declared "there are scientific warnings now of another onrushing catastrophe" that Bush is also ignoring — "that the average hurricane will continue to get stronger because of global warming."
"We will face a string of terrible catastrophes unless we act to prepare ourselves and deal with the underlying causes of global warming," Gore warned.
Hurricanes the size of Katrina are rare, but they are not new, and they are not caused by George Bush or global warming. But don't take our word for it. Listen to Stanley Goldenberg, a meteorologist at the Hurricane Research Division of the National Oceanic & Atmospheric Administration, when he states: "I speak for many hurricane climate researchers in saying such claims are nonsense."
"Katrina is part of a well-documented, multidecadal scale fluctuation in hurricane activity," Goldenberg observes, noting that "this cycle was described in a heavily cited article printed in the journal Science in 2001

I have put the beginning and end here I DO suggest you read the entirety, as I feel it puts the total picture in a consise and easily understood form
****************************************************
A recent paper, "Hurricanes and Global Warming," written by six noted tropical cyclone experts and published in the Bulletin of the American Meteorological Society, concluded that no connection has been established between greenhouse gas emissions and hurricane activity, and that the scientific consensus was that changes in hurricane intensity would be small and with historical patterns.
If Gore had gone to the Web site of the National Hurricane Center, he'd have discovered that the peak for major hurricanes (Categories 3, 4, 5) came in the 1930s, 1940s and 1950s, when such storms averaged nine per year. From 2001 to 2004, the average was three.
Nor are hurricanes intensifying in strength. According to the United Nations Environment Program of the World Meteorological Organization: "Reliable data . . . since the 1940s indicate that the peak strength of the strongest hurricanes has not changed, and the mean maximum intensity of all hurricanes has decreased."
Now, if we could only have a cycle where Al Gore would keep quiet.
What is painfully obvious is the vast majority of what the media reported and what Howard Dean and others have shouted from the hilltops is just not true. It is up to us to hammer away at the deceptions and false information in a continual effort, Let the American People see the difference and they will in time, they always do. Approval indexes can go down at the first shock and in reaction to the first shouts but then they climb again.

"Der er et yndigt land" (There Is A Lovely Land)
(This is true whether the lyrics are sung or not
Recentlty I have been posting music to Illustrate the Diversity of America, this week I have a different motive to express Solidarity with DENMARK I maintain my Support of Denmark, and will later today, post links to and my thoughts about a Danish Editorial "We are being pissed upon by Per Nyholm "
I think I shall title my Post, "There is no "But" in "Freedom of Speech".
When I first started upon my journey through the blogverse I created a
Statement of PurposeNow upon reading it, one can realize that I did not hold to every detail of that original statement, but from it's basic premise, I have never swayed, in my belief that the Blogs are in fact the Committees of Correspondence of the Second American Revolution.
And that it is a Revolution of Information, no longer can we afford and allow elite gateways to control what we can see, hear and discuss.
For I believe that those bloggers who find their way, here and in particular from the Blogs associated with Sam.
HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY.
Some of us are more Serious, some of us are more lighthearted and some post the common ordinary things that make one smile and recall that Life without the simple things to treasure is meaningless.
And it is important that all have a platform from which to speak.
As I understand this process you can link to this post and trackback to this post on ANY subject or post you think important. It is open. I will repeat this every Monday.
The Committees of Correspondence welcomes your intelligent comments. And also welcomes you to join the
OPEN TRACKBACK ALLIANCEThis week I also have shortened my usual introduction for a more inportant message.
In it's struggle for Freedom of Speech.

MANIFESTO: Together facing the new totalitarianism
Created by Mark Jefferson on March 1st, 2006 at 5:42 pm AST
After having overcome fascism, Nazism, and Stalinism, the world now faces a new totalitarian global threat: Islamism.
We, writers, journalists, intellectuals, call for resistance to religious totalitarianism and for the promotion of freedom, equal opportunity and secular values for all. "

Shop America
One week until we all need to go SHOPPING!
I am bumping this post up.
I and others have been posting recently on the Illegal Immigration issue and also on the recent demonstrations and Boycotts.
Some of my previous posts are here:
Boycott the Boycotts!Este no es su Bario Vato! This is
not your Neighborhood Homeboy.
We Can IF We Choose ToToday in Captain's Quarters we learn of the next forth coming Demonstrations and boycotts.
Boycott For Illegals On May Day"The traditional Communist holiday of May Day has been selected for a boycott protesting the push to secure the southern border of the United States, the Washington Times reports this morning. The timing is not coincidental, as the Stalinist sympathizers International ANSWER has led the effort to stage the economic protest:
Immigration rights organizers today will call for a nationwide boycott of work, school and shopping on May 1 to protest congressional efforts to clamp down on illegal aliens as part of pending immigration-reform legislation.
he "Great American Boycott of 2006" is only one in a series of large-scale events the protesters hope will sway lawmakers to put millions of illegal aliens on track toward permanent residency and U.S. citizenship.
"The massive March 25 march and rally in Los Angeles of well over one million immigrant workers and their supporters -- along with protests and student walkouts throughout the United States -- is irrefutable evidence that a new civil rights and workers' rights movement is on the rise," said Raul Murillo, one of the key organizers and president of the Hermandad Mexicana Nacional. ...
The Act Now to Stop War & End Racism (ANSWER) coalition, which organized the Los Angeles march to win "full rights for undocumented workers," is confident its new "national action" will prove successful.
ANSWER's steering committee includes the Free Palestine Alliance, the Partnership for Civil Justice, the Nicaragua Network, the Korea Truth Commission, the Muslim Student Association, the Mexico Solidarity Network and the Party for Socialism and Liberation. It denounces as racism attempts to criminalize illegal aliens.
The selection of May Day as its target date reveals much of the philosophical underpinning of the illegals movement. They wish to deny the United States sovereignty over their own territory and control of its own borders. It follows from their political ambition to recreate the Communist hegemony that died in Europe from its own internal rot and to fuel the notion of mob rule in the name of a rising proletariat. Workers of the world, unite! and all that."My first reaction is just
when did breaking the Law become not a criminal act?
Second is a call to Americans who feel that our Laws should be respected.
Do you feel that what you do cannot have any impact on the national scene?
Do you feel that no one pays attention to how you feel and think?
NOW is the time you can make a difference.
Now is the time that average American Citizens, the one's who work for a living can send a message to Washington in the clearest and loudest terms.
Put your money where your mouth is!
May 1st
SHOP AMERICA!Have you been planning a major purchase?
Do it on that day.
How about your weekly or bi-weekly grocery shopping?
Do it that day.
Take your family out to dinner. Buy that new dress, new suit, new computer.
AND if you see a business
closed on May 1st? Don't spend your money there from that day hence. You might even stick a note under the door informing them of your decision.
Let us make this May 1st one of the
BIGGEST shopping days of 2006.
If we can do that? Congress will know we mean business and if they choose not to listen?
They will know the price they may pay this November and the one two years from now.
Remember Montebello High!
SHOP AMERICA!
Doll at Freedom Watch has posted the
demandswe are presented with in
"The Great American Boycott 2006"
"I demand full rights and equality for all immigrants living in the United States. Neoliberal economic policies targeting Latin America, like NAFTA and CAFTA, have pushed millions of people into abject poverty. Immigrants are forced to come to the U.S. to look for work. Nobody should be criminalized for attempting to survive. No human being is illegal. Racism against immigrants emanates from the same forces behind the U.S. war to conquer and control the wealth of Iraq."

UPDATE I posted this article on a discussion board and this was one responce.
"I emailed THE WIFE (yes I think of her that way...with curliques (sp?) and stuff too) and told her to go shopping, bring the kids, go out to eat and bring friends... I'll do mine at the PX on Arifjan...
