XM Satellite Radio Leads In Subscribers

WASHINGTON(PRNewswire-FirstCall) -- XM Satellite Radio, the nation's leading satellite radio company, today announced that it added more than 285,000 new net subscribers during the third quarter of 2006 for a total of more than 7.185 million subscribers.

The third quarter results are consistent with the company's previously- stated guidance that it will end the year with total subscribers between 7.7 million and 8.2 million. XM will update its guidance during its upcoming quarterly conference call.

Starting in the third quarter of 2006, XM no longer includes certain rental car fleets (approximately 20,000 subscriptions) in its subscription total. This change is a result of a new marketing program that XM recently implemented with certain rental fleet partners for 2007 model year vehicles. The goal of this program is to increase the number of rental cars equipped with XM Satellite Radio and expose more potential customers to XM's service.

Factors that could cause actual results to differ materially from those in the forward-looking statements in this press release include demand for XM Satellite Radio's service, the Company's dependence on technology and third party vendors, its potential need for additional financing, as well as other risks described in XM Satellite Radio Holdings Inc.'s Form 10-K filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission on 3-9-06.
