I've known Mandy my whole life. She was my very first best friend and still is. Most friends grow apart as they grow older because they don't see each other as often. However, distance has never been an issue with us because it has always been an issue with us. Let me explain. She and I have never gone to school together, we were never in a club together, heck, we've never even lived near each other. Our entire friendship has been carried out by seeing each other five or six times each year. 'How can that make a friendship?' you may ask. Well, I don't really have an answer. It just never seemed to be a problem for us. She is exactly one week younger than me and we've always joked about being twins even though we're really quite different. Somehow, though, we always just seem to get along wonderfully. It's just one of those uncanny friendships that happens without us having to do anything to make it grow. So, now she's going to college in California and I'm still up here, but I still feel like I can just call her up and once again we'll be seven year old girls with pixie haircuts and matching pink 'flaming rose' one speeds with one training wheel each.
