| Angelfire |
Angelfire is where I make most of my pages. They host free web pages and offer up to 30 MB of storage space. They offer a basic editor that's really good for beginners. I like them but the banners get really old after a while. |
| Tripod |
Tripod is the other site that I use to make my pages. I don't use it quite as much, though for the most part it's easier to use, at least for more advanced users. It's owned by the same company that own's Angelfire, so because it's all free of course there's the same banner problem. |
| Bravenet |
Bravenet offers free "stuff" for your site from guestbooks to hit counters, and chat rooms to password protection systems. It's all totally free and I highly recommend it. |
| Flaming Text |
Flaming text just rocks. I have to say that. They are the site I use to make all my headings and banners. Totally free, and waaaay easy to use, and they make kick ass images. |
| Javascript Source |
The JavaScript Source is where I go to learn how to do really cool javascript stuff like mouse-overs and pull-down menus. Free, and easy to use. If nothing else it's fun to play with the javascript games they have up. :) |
| My Back Room |
This is one of the smaller, less complicated sites I've made. Basically it's a collection of background images and line break images, and links to other sites with similar content. Check it out if you're interested. |
| HomeSite 4.0 |
HomeSite 4.0 is a convenient program for beginners, because it has "wizards" to make the coding for exactly what you want. Unfortunately, it's not free cause you have to go buy the software. But it's worth the money cause it's a good program. |
| Microsoft FrontPage 2000 |
While I don't particularly like it, I do use this program once in a while. It can do a couple neat things like moving banners and marquee's and things like that. However, you'll be hard pressed to find any good free servers that will allow you to use it. Tripod and Angelfire are the only ones I know of. And beyond that it's a Microsoft product and we all know what goes along with that. |
| Macromedia Fireworks |
Super nifty program that will make things like javascript roll-overs (mouse-overs) just by selecting the area you want to change and then telling it what you want it to do. Even cuts up your images into the tables and writing the code for you. It's designed to work with DreamWeaver, FrontPage, and GoLive! for easy coding. I like it a lot. hehehe |
| Adobe GoLive! |
Somewhere between FrontPage and HomeSite falls this cool program. It does code editing, javascripting, file management, WYSIWYG editing, and FTP'ing. It's the program I've been using for working on the Portland Community College web site, but it really isn't designed for sites that large. But for smaller sites it's wonderful. |
| Paint Shop Pro 5 & 6 |
Paint Shop Pro 5 & 6 is what I use to touch up my pictures so you don't know that I really have one mutant hip. hehehe. I also use it to make things like the floorplan on my opening page. Very convenient and fun to play with if nothing else. Unfortunately it isn't free either. Bummer. |
