The most powerful economical force on the planet. Genom's goals are nothing
less then global domination, and in 2033, it is almost complete. This is
owed mostly to the founder and current chairman, Quincy (first or last
name? take a guess), who established the base of operations in MegaTokyo.
He pushed for control of food circulation and industrial resources, and
encouraged developments in manufacturing. While the exact future of Genom's
and Quincy's global rule is still unclear, it has been asumed that Genom
was always intended for eventual covert and overt control of the world.
Given its
power in the worldwide markets, Genom wields a great deal of influence
over various national governments, agencies, and terrorist groups. In reality,
Genom secretly manipulates political and financial aspects of the entire
Western World. Through its aerospace concerns, it can effectively control
SDPC (Space Development Public Corporation) and it has connections within
the USSD's (United Nations Strategic Space Defense) allied council. Taking
full advantage of its multinational standing, Genom regularly ignores national
boundaries and laws to engage in the illegal manufacture, sale, and trade
of military weapons. The super conglomerate is almost untouchable by most
law enforcement agencies, as Genom either funds the agencies themselves,
or controls the politicians that give the cops their orders.
The conglomerate's
influence on the world economy and its direct power over key political
figures is a useful tool, but most versatile and powerful weapon in Genom's
arsenal are Boomers. The massive enterprise owns
all patents and copyrights to Cyberdroids, and is constantly developing
new types to serve its purposes. The destructive SuperBoomers being one
example.
Even more
frightening than the Boomers themselves is the top secret Over-Mind control
System. Even high level executives in Genom's hierarchy believe that the
OMS is only a rumor. Quincy and the boards of directors have access to
it though. As yet, the OMS is inactive, but once engaged it can control
all Boomers in the world. Should it ever be used, the person controlling
it would command an army of machines working from kitchens, to the orbital
sites, all the way to the military. He would become the most powerful person
in the world within seconds. The OMS is Genom's most heavily guarded secret.
If the rest of the world knew of its existence, the massive enterprise
would be torn apart by the enrage governments.
Genom truly
was the life saver of MegaTokyo when the Kanto earthquake took place. If
it was not for Genom, it would have taken much longer for Tokyo to came
back and rebuild. A theory is that Genom was the one that caused the quake
so their plans for global domination would happen sooner. Of course, this
is only a rumor...
If Genom
is so big, why doesn't it stop the Knight Sabers? Well, it does not care
enough to bother. While the Knight Sabers are a great team, having advanced
technology and tactics, they are still too small for Genom to worry about.
Few individuals have tried to wipe the team out, but the company has not
declared a wat against them. If Quincy wanted to know the identities of
the Sabers, he could do it. His resources are even far more extensive then
Sylia's and has more technology then he knows what to do with. I mean,
if a small time photographer like Lisa Vanette could almost do it, the
man that made Genom would have no problem. Fortunately for the Knight Sabers,
Quincy delegates his resources in other matters. I wonder why that is?
Genom Personnel
Quincy
As
the founder and current Chairman of Genom, Quincy is one of the most powerful
people on the planet. Genom's worldwide dominion is owed almost all to
this man. His history is a mystery (like an good villain. Even Sylia does
not know anything about him, and if she does, Sylia has said nothing).
He probably has been plotting world domination for some time and plans
to see himself as some sort of God to look over mankind. One thing is for
sure is that he is a man completely in control of himself. He maintains
an unshakable composure in most situations.
He is imposing.
His appearance tells nothing of his age. He also has a totally confident
manner that can be quite disconcerting to anyone challenging him. His mysterious
aura is compounded by the fact that he has several Android Boomer doubles.
Perhaps he already has died, or maybe he lives on in the computer systems
of Genom. No one knows.
Brian J. Mason
Mason
was a powerful man within Genom Corporations. He was the Secretary to the
Chairman and in charge of many of Genom's more secretive operations. Mason
is responsible for Dr. Stingray's assassination and the cover-up which
included the destruction of Wiz Labs, the company that Dr. Stingray worked
for. It was his plan to develop the illegal Combat Boomers. He supported
the Technologically Integrated Economic City Project (which led to many
people becoming homeless, including a very angry Priss), and the Killer
Doll Program (using a Boomer that looked like a child, it could hooked
up to the orbital satellites surrounding the planet. They are capable or
firing a particle beam from space to the planet. Nice huh?) Mason also
continued the Super Boomer Development even after its destruction, and
without Quincy's approval. While on the surface Mason served Quincy with
respect, he secretly had great ambitions. Not contented with being a businessman,
he aspired to become the supreme leader of Genom and rule the world. While
the Knight Sabers foiled his plans, interfering with the Super Boomer,
Mason's ambition would not be stopped. When he was killed in battle with
the Knight Sabers, he downloaded his mind to the advance body of a SuperBoomer,
being reborn as Largo. In his new incarnation, he was able to carry out
the evil that he could not achieve as a man.
Brian J.
Mason was a ruthless corporate shark. He was power hungry and amoral, but
dangerously clever and patient. As Quincy's assistant and confidante, he
knew where all of Genom's skeletons were hidden and had access to vast
resources. He also had a surprisingly in-depth knowledge of the Knight
Sabers, perhaps even copies of Dr. Stingray's original files, as was hinted
in Born to Kill. In fact, despite his competence and power, he developed
a driving obsession with Sylia Stingray since he was in love with her.
It was on top of Genom Tower that Sylia killed Mason. (You are always hurt
by the ones you love.)
Kate Madigan
As Genom's officer in charge of information, Madigan had nearly unlimited
access to Genom's secrets and was personally involved in numerous international
conspiracies. She was also in charge of internal affairs and espionage.
One of her main duties was to look for leaks in the Genom's staff and information
network. After Mason's untimely death, she moved into Chairman Quincy's
favor, becoming privy to the secret of the OMS. In the battle that ensued
when Largo challenged Quincy, Madigan was reported to be killed.
Madigan was
brilliant, meticulous, and ruthless executive. She had a good mind for
public relations, but had no qualms about killing to cover Genom's crimes.
Dr. Miriam Yoshida
Dr. Yoshida was the most brilliant
scientist that graced the company of Genom (As he thought in his own mind).
Basically, he was a third rate villain. His arrogance kept him from being
promoted on numerous occasion, so he ended up working at a manufacturing
company. All the work that he did in designing new equipment for the Boomers
was for naught. His boss always claimed the credit and this pushed Miriam
over the edge. In an attempt to elevate his status in Quincy's eyes, he
designed a team of enhanced Boomers to destroy the ADP and the Knight Sabers.
He failed and ended up being arrested by Leon.
Miriam was
a gifted designer, but not a tactician and is now serving a life sentence
in prison.
"The
Assemblers of Prosperity" The actual name of Boomers is Cyberdroids. Boomer
is the more popular and slang term used by the denizens of MegaTokyo. Boomers
are biotechnological entities, robots made up of a protein mechanics, neo-metallic
structures, artificial intelligence systems, and synthetic organs. Originally
designed for space construction work, Genom's factories now pump out tons
of Boomers, ranging in complexity from cheap, dog brained robots to androids
which are almost completely indistinguishable from human beings. Marketed
as labor-saving servants and mechanical workers, most are vaguely humanoid
in form, but more utilitarian models do exist, such as boxes with legs,
animal forms, and even vehicles.
Models of Boomers
Among these categories, Boomers are also classified according to complexity
of their manufacture. This is what their inherit quality and price would
be. A-class Boomers are masterpieces, with a high percentage of biological
components. Of the B-class, only a handful remain, because they represent
a compromise between quality and affordability which did not sell well
in an age of polarized economics. The C-Class is popular since it still
resembles a human but it is cheap and easy to maintain. D-Class Boomers
are nothing more then robots, and as such appeal to consumers solely on
the basis of their utility.
The cheaper
Boomers can be overworked, which lead to many breakdowns or berserk behavior.
Most C and D-Class Boomers should only be used in 12 hour shifts. If they
are used around the clock, they overheat, which leads to trouble. That
is when the ADPolice comes in. Higher quality Boomers are made in ways
that expect them to performs for months and even years.
The endurance
of A or B class Boomers performance is due to its power system. All Boomers
have an internal battery, but Battle , Combat and high grade Boomers use
a supercompact engine to recharge their battery's energy reserves constantly.
Lower level Boomers simply rely on a power cell (interconnected group of
cells) which gives them electrical energy. All require regular recharging.
