Chapter 7
It was about 2:30 Tuesday afternoon when everybody
was filling into large tour buses preparing to
travel to Pennslyvania, to start the spring leg of
the tour. Lilia was trying to load her very large
bags into the tour bus. "May I help you, miss?"
Howie said grabbing her bag.
"You didn't have to do
that Howie, I can take care of myself," she said
rather irritated.
"I know you can, are you
alright?" He asked very concerned.
"Yah, I'm just
very tired right now," she said simply.
"Hey Lily,"
NIck said approaching her.
"Hi," she replied simply
but friendly.
"Hey, Lilia, you coming?" Rita
called from the bus enterance.
"Yah, I gotta go
guys," she told them as she ran to meet her friend
on the bus.
"Are you okay, girl, I noticed how you were
blowing Howie off," Rita asked Lilia when they got
on the bus.
"I know I'm just sooo confused." Lilia
went on to explain the whole Nick/Howie situation,
how she was afraid of hurting either of the 2 guys
and causing trouble between.
"I'm sorry for
interrupting, but I couldn't help but over hear
you," Jennifer, another, dancer said to Rita and
Lilia. Jennifer was Nick's dance partener before
she switched with Lilia. Lilia nodded , very
interested in what Jen had to say since she probalby
knew Nick than she did.
"Well, I know ever since
Nick first saw you tat first day he was more
mesmorized than he has ever been and Howie knew it,
what I'm saying is that Howie knew that Nick liked
you before he asked you out," Jennifer tried to be
sympathetic, but she wanted to tell her the truth as
well.
Unfourtunatly, Jennifer's revelation to Lilia
did not prove to be anymore conforting. Why would
Howie ask her out if Nick vocally announced what he
thought of her? Why would he do that to somebody
who was supposed to be his friend?
Meanwhile, on the boy's bus the mood was
unusually quiet. Instead of their usual poker or
video game playoffs the boys were engrossed in
private conversations. Howie was telling AJ about
his date with Lilia and Nick was telling Brian
bassically the same thing.
"Come on Howie, ya, know
that Nick really liked Lil why'd you do that to
him?" AJ asked kind of frustrated at his friend.
"I don't know AJ, usually I wouldn't do something
like that on a regular basis but there is something
special about Lilia, something that I have never
felt with any girl before." AJ looked over to Nick
and Brian and suddenly he started to feel that this
situation might not end very peacefully.
Chapter 8
The dancers gathered at the arena Wednesday
aftenoon, for rehearsal. After they were finished
going through the dances Brian, who had been
watching for a while, signaled for Lilia to come
over. "Hey, what's up?" She asked curiously.
"Can
we talk?" He asked acting very serious. Lilia just
nodded, the two of them found a spare room backstage
for them to talk in private.
"Look, I know
everything about Nick and Howie. AJ and I talked
about it on the bus last night and well since you
offered a bit of advice last week, I thought I would
return the favor."
"What kind of advice are you
going to give me?" Lilia asked intently.
"We, you
need to figure out what you want," he stated
simply.
"Well aren't you a genius. Don't you think
I could have figured that out on my own," she said
showing her hot Irish temper.
"Listen, Lil, I
really like you and all but the last thing we need
is problems."
"YOu think I do, this is not my fault and any
problems between Howie and Nick that might resurrect
are just that problems between them and they don't
concern me and definetly not you."
Lilia stormed out of the room, how could Brian
blame this on her? It isn't her fault, is it? The
more she thought about it the more she realized that
Brian was right, eventually she was going to have to
choose between Nick and Brian as much as she hated
to do it.
