fter college I started work at a small publishing company, hoping that editing would be a close second to writing. It wasn't, and when a friend working as a videogame designer offered me an opportunity to write for the game he was working on, it sparked a four-year period of freelancing for different game companies and web designers. Then I signed on with CheckOut.com, an e-commerce webzine, as their Senior Games Editor. After two years and a promotion to Senior Games Producer, the company went under. Here is a complete job history and a list of writing credits.

9/95-7/02: Freelance Writer
I've worked on a variety of different projects for game companies like Activision Studios, web developers like Digital Planet, print magazines and, to be published in September, a scholarly text. Click here for a list of writing credits.
6/00-12/00: Senior Producer, CheckOut.com
While maintaining a full editorial role, I also became responsible for the entire games section, coordinating the efforts of writers, artists and web researchers and scheduling daily content updates. Beyond dealing with group morale and productivity, I was also put in the position to shape the approach and design of the site itself, from workflow programming to marketing ideas.
3/99-6/00: Senior Editor, CheckOut.com
As Senior Editor of CheckOut.com's games section, I established the site's editorial stance and journalistic standards, and planned a weekly schedule of game reviews, previews, interviews and feature articles. Besides a full writing load of four or five stories a week, I also managed three staff writers, edited the site's content and established relationships with game developers and publishers.

5/93-9/96: Managing Editor, Roxbury Publishing Company
Over three years I progressed from Assistant to the Publisher to Managing Editor while working on a series of textbooks and anthologies published for the college market. I handled everything from irritable authors to galley proofing and securing reprint rights.

9/89-5/93: Bachelor of Arts, Wesleyan University
I received a Bachelor of Arts from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Connecticut, with a double major in English Literature and Classical Civilizations.
