What happens when a Cobra operative does good work and advances the cause of Cobra? There are many different rewards.
First is the accolades of Cobra Command and those above you. If you do well, you may be asked to take on more dangerous and more important missions for our organization.
Second is what this supposeded gamemaster calls Hero Points. These are spent in order to increase your statistics that you generated during your application.
You will receive hero points at the end of every mission. Usually, each mission will last about 6 weeks or so. It may seem a long time, but gaming by e-mail is rather slow, so you need to understand that things will take time to develop.
When your character does something really spectacular, usually that's worth anything from 1 to 3 Hero Points.
Whenever you do something that saves the day, otherwise the misson would have failed and you would have been captured, expect between 5 and 8 Hero Points.
Whenever you roleplay well and keep in character, you will be rewarded from 2 to 4 Hero Points. This also includes writing well, so if you don't follow the posting guidelines found elsewhere on the site, you lose hero points in this category.
Whenever you decide to take 'time off' from active operations(leave the game for an extended period of time), you receive 1 Hero Points for every month that you are away. Sorry, if you're gone for 2 weeks, you don't get this bonus.
There are other awards that you will be given, but those are given out on individual situations.
What do you do with Hero Points?
- For 1 Hero Point, you get a Free skill pick to spend on a skill that
you haven't put either 8 skill picks into or reached your Basic Capability
score.
- For 2 Hero Points, you can increase a skill beyond the eight skill
picks as long as you haven't hit your Basic Capability score. In
this case, the skill pick adds +1 to the specific skill.
- For 3 Hero Points, you can increase any Basic Capability by 1.
I will notify you if this changes any of the information on your character.
- You cannot accumalate more than 6 Hero Points at one time, so you
will spending these points after each mission, which does make sense.
There will also be medals, awards and other things given out that will
give characters more Hero Points. A promotion will usually not give
you an increase in Hero Points. I usually promote a player once after Basic
Training and then once after every two missions.
