David Foss Shows
Abstract Expressionism
with his Acrylics on Canvas

RECEPTION: Sunday February 7th, 1999
1 to 4pm

At the Watchung Arts Center, beginning February1-27th, David Foss will be exhibiting his Acrylics on Canvas in the Lower Gallery. Our gallery hours are 1-4pm Monday through Saturday. The show will have an open reception on Sunday, February 7th from 1-4pm. These receptions are free and offer a chance to meet the artist and discuss his work.

David Foss has studied art at the University of Colorado and completed a Masters in Fine Arts and Sculpture. His art at that time consisted of multi-media sculptures of a personal and social nature. In 1989 he moved to Philadelphia to pursue his art in depth. He began painting with acrylics and soon found an evolution was occurring and an abstract style emerged. His abstracts are a personal search of self-discovery. Presently David is a Program Coordinator for the Art in City Hall Program. Mr. Foss has for many years of been employed in museums and art galleries across the Delaware Valley region.

The paintings on display are what David calls, "expressions of emotions". He stands before his blank canvas without any preconceived ideas or sketches, often listening to music, he lets the mood and shape come from the "Tension between structure order and chaos." The painting is finished when "the canvas conveys my emotional state and my desire to see the unseen. The result being a record of myself in time and place."
