Are you looking for a break from the absurdities of everyday life? Or, a cure that’s cheaper than Prozac, faster than therapy and more reputable than a self-help guru? Then come to Comedy Night at the Watchung Arts Center, and laugh your troubles away.  Series host Phil Hochman takes great pride in being able to present the top comics from the New York City Circuit in the WAC Gallery arena with John McMenamin as MC. The shows are scheduled on the third Saturday of each  month.

Here's the Schedule for 2003:

  • The January 18th Comedy Night will headline Billy Jaye.
  • The February 15th Comedy Night will headline Fran Cappo.
  • The March 15th Comedy Night will headline Ritch Franchase.
  • The April 19th Comedy Night will headline Ben Kurlan.

  • May 17th

  • June 21st

  • September 20th

  • October 18th

  • November 15th

What would be better than a good laugh, great art and complimentary refreshment for the nominal price of $12? The series has built a strong following, however there is always room for newcomers.

Comedy is one of those fragile performances that requires the right mood, setting and time.  The Comedy Night series at the Watchung Arts Center has managed to build a following in its convenient suburban location by drawing from a mix of the best urban comedy club stand-ups.  Each show features new faces and fresh material.

The Watchung Arts Center presents the comedy series on the third Saturday of every month.  Host, Phil Hochman, will present John McMinamen the resident MC, a Headliner and a Feature performer.  Ticket price is $12 and that includes light refreshments after the show.

The seating is in an intimate art gallery, with limited capacity.  Reservations may be made online or by phone, calling (908) 753-0190 and leaving a message if necessary.  Tickets will be held at the door.

The nonprofit Watchung Arts Center is located “on the circle” in Watchung, easily reached from Route 22 (Plainfield overpass) or Interstate 78 (exit 40).  There is ample free parking adjacent to the building, or around the corner at Best Lake.
