The Marauders were a team of superhuman mutants who were organized by the enigmatic Mr. Sinister and who served him as assassins. Mr. Sinister sent the Marauders to slaughter the Morlocks, a community of mutants living underground in the New York City area. During the “Mutant Massacre” the Marauders clashed with the X-Men, the New Mutants, and Thor, but nonetheless succeeded in killing most of the Morlocks. The Marauders have battled the X-Men on subsequent occasions as well. Although three Marauders – Blockbuster, Prism, and Riptide – seemingly died during the “mutant massacre” they all apparently later returned to life. Exactly how these Marauders survived remains a mystery.
