Game Review
Hesperia Christian opened their first home game of the 2003-2004 Agape League with a blazing first quarter and then went on to beat Joshua Springs 68-43. Senior captain Josh Hamilton led the way with 27 points and 5 steals while junior Nate Glass had his third double double of his varsity career with 10 points and 11 rebounds. Loren Barton and Mike Petersen helped Glass out with 9 and 10 rebounds respectively. Loren also had five blocked shots of the team's season high 11 blocked shots. Senior captain Trevor Wagstaffe was able to again hold Joshua Springs star Nathan Rynning to 14 points (Rynning has been averaging 25 points a game since returning to varsity play). Trevor has held Rynning under 15 points since Rynning's freshman year. The Patriots again jumped out to an early 12-3 lead. Only in the second quarter did HCS fall down as the Lightning won it 20-10. But in the third quarter, the Patriots put it away with a 23-9 score. They did it again in the fourth quarter with a 14-7 quarter score. HCS had a 38 rebound night and most importantly, they shot a decent although not great 75% from the charity line. Joshua Springs is now 7-8 (1-2) while HCS continues to lead the Agape League 12-5 (3-0). Showdown Friday night against CIF #5 Apple Valley Christian.

Game Preview Hesperia Christian plays their first home game of the 2003-2004 Agape League against Joshua Springs of Yucca Valley. HCS is presently 11-5 (2-0) while the Lightening is 7-7 (1-1). This is the beginning of a three game string which will define this season for HCS. Joshua Springs and HCS' only common opponent this season is Bethel Christian which HCS beat 78-47 while Joshua Springs won 58-37. The Lightning will be led by senior 6' guard Nathan Rynning, an All- Agape team player the last three seasons. He returned to the lineup during the Christmas break from a severe leg injury and has been averaging 25 points a game since his return. He is the best unguarded three-point shooter in the Agape League. The only other returning starter from last season is 5' 10" Joshua Wagner, their point guard. As always, Joshua Springs has found new players to fill out the lineup. Senior Chris Bridenstine has been playing great in the pre-conference season. He was named to the All-Tourney team at Joshua Springs Christmas Tournament. Senior center Cameo Adams is their main rebounder. He also was named to the All-Tourney team this Christmas. In 2002-2003 the Patriots swept their series with Joshua Springs, a first time sweep in several years.
