WORLDS
APART
Alone,
she enters
and
withdraws into herself
She
stands in a corner, amongst the shadows
making
herself invisible...
and
invincible
She
stands with bent shoulders, her eyes to the floor
her
slim fingers fiercely holding onto
a
sheet of paper
plain
on the back, sketches on front...
nothing
between the lines.
She
sees no one
but
everyone sees her
they
note her stained cheeks and scowling face
her
talon like nails and classy clothes
but
no one sees her eyes
dark
and cloudy
drawn
and tormented...
windows
to her soul.
Her
turn arrives and she steps into the harsh light
of
reality or pretense
she
shies away and hurries forward
away
from her mock existence
to
the shadows of life
where
no one sees and no one knows
where
she can escape questions that have no answer...
that
she knows of.
