Beast Wars: Tigatron Carded Bootleg Terrorsaur
On eBay a while back I came across an auction for $10 selling a bunch of Tigatron carded
bootlegs (with rock bubbles!) so naturally I bought away. One of those was Terrorsaur, and
ack, he's pretty crappy.
Okay, first of all I'd like to mention that of the four basic sized toys I got in that
lot (Rattrap, Razorbeast, Iguanus and Terrorsaur), Terrorsaur's little spring loaded mechanism
works the best. He's the only one that doesn't randomly pop up while in beast mode (like
Rattrap and Razorbeast) or make me scared it's gonna snap (like Iguanus). However, the good
ends there.
Keeping in mind it's a bootleg, this toy is made like crap. So far none of the others
have broken except Terrorsaur. His beast head poped right off (actually, the top of it did)
and the little notch that held it on snapped off. I ended up having to drill a hole in the
remaining notch and sticking a piece of a paper clip in there to hold it together.
Also, I may have mentioned his spring loaded dealie worked fine, except for one problem.
The small plastic part that attaches his plastic 'spine' to his robot legs (the part that
actually makes him transform) broke off the first time I used it. Sigh.
Of course, it is a bootleg, and I suppose it could have been my bootleg alone, but this
is definitely the craphouse of the group. And what's with the damn purple?! Ugh. Oh well,
at least I have a Terrorsaur to call my own now, though I don't know if that's such a good
thing.
Oh, so you want an actual review? Erm, well, beast mode is cool, though the fun
undercarriage garbage is present which takes away from the design. His mouth opens
(well, it's supposed to) but that's about it. Somewhat show accurate, though his wings
can't move and he can't stand on his hind legs (he's stuck in take off mode).
Robot mode is alright, sloppy paint (bootleg) and oh dear god the purple. Also nifty
is his gun which he keeps in his backpack and can be kept there when he's in beast mode so
you don't lose the danged thing. Pretty sweet.
Anyway, in short, bootlegs break (even though this particular batch was actually made
quite well for bootlegs), so if you want toys that aren't crap, then buy the real thing.
This Terrorsaur set me back $3.50 (including shipping), a real one will set you back like
$25 or more (without shipping). Well, you figure it out.
