A motherboard
is a printed circuit board, which is about the same size as an a4 piece of
paper. It has all of the processing chips on it either soldered onto the board
or in the form of sockets that can be plugged in. The motherboard is designed
to run using a particular processor (this will be covered later). All component
items of the PC are plugged into the motherboard; it is the hub for all of
the components. These components include:
· Processor (CPU)
· Memory
· Cards (graphics, sound etc..)
