The Clint Boon Experience
The Compact Guide To Pop Music and Space Travel
Artful

"We All Live on Dreams". This is a fact, not just a line from Presley On Oldham Street. Without dreams our lives become dull and meaningless. Clint Boon seems to know this better than anyone. Obsessed with music, sex and space travel since his childhood, Clint has used these fascinations to create the most wonderful collection of pop songs I've heard in years. It's got the beautiful melodies and contagious choruses that you might expect from a great pop album, but a million things you might not. A glorious trumpet, a Farfisa organ as well as a Hammond, even an opera vocal. Odd little samples that fit well but make no real sense.

Even the packaging is stamped with Clint's inspirations; helpful hints and messages plastered all over it, cartoons and photographs of his lovely band, a page of thank-you's crediting everyone he's met or been influenced by. One of the very last notes dedicates the entire album to his beloved children, Max and Harley.

In truth the album is less of a guide, more of a musical education. A fantastic collection of sparkling pop tunes, with no regard for shoe-gazing or overly dramatic soul-searching. You Can't Keep A Good Man Down and White No Sugar will stand out as dancing, shouting tunes, perfect for singles, Push Me Back Down and The Cool People Know Who the Cool People Are as immediate, fast and furious anthems. The Hammond and Farfisa organs flood through every inch of the album to give it a truly distinctive feel.

The slower, less immediate tracks still turn you in circles and draws you into a trance. Not Enough Purple, Too Much Grey is almost heartbreaking, This Night Will See Me Falling truly beautiful. Everything is a celebration, full of hope and promise, never any regrets or sadness. This may seem like a farce if you think about life realistically at its worst. But this is just what Clint wants people to fight against; normality. Making the most of every opportunity, maybe inspire the people around you, start a new revolution. A little hopeful, but not impossible.

Listened to in its natural order, the album will have just the same effect, dancing you through every emotion you've ever known, out into space and back again.

In short, pop perfection. Do not allow this record to pass you by. If you buy this record, your life will be better.
