It's Time to Bake the Christmas Cookies!!!!

It wouldn't seem like Christmas here without homemade cookies. We've always made lots of cookies. Cookies are part of the menu at every gathering of family and friends from just after Thanksgiving to at least New Year's Day. There's also enough for everyone to take trays of colorful cookies to all their holiday parties. Every year we make about 8 to 10 varieties. The recipes from Mom are made first, usually starting with the roll-out cookies.

As long as I can remember, Mom always made cookie paint for the roll out cookies. It's an easy way to beautifully decorate the cookies and still be able to stack them for storing, unlike when using frosting. The paint is simply egg white, beaten lightly with a fork, plus a few drops of food coloring.
