And Lo! Your world is steady, to be sure; but only in unsteadiness. And certain is your world, but only in uncertainty. And constant is your world, but only in inconstancy. And single is your world, but only in unsingleness...
Excerpt from The book of Mirdad

Every soul is in need for a quiet place, to reflect, recharge. These places can become alters, consciously or unconsciously. This is mine. How to make your own altar, and being your own shaman.

If you are thinking about making an altar for yourself, just think of the things you want in your life, and look for objects that symbolize those goals. Take your time to sit with them during the day, burn incense and a candle, put some food and water there to please the spirit.
For me it is a place also to accept help. You are not alone.

Obsidian
Metaphysical:

Obsidian is volcanic lava cooled quickly.  It is a natural glass.  A stone of protection, is was probably one the first stones to be used for arrowheads and knives.
A stone of Honesty, Sincerity and Truth, Obsidian will bring out the Warrior spirit in you.  It can help reach into your subconscious, reclaim yourself, and help you find or re-discover forgotten abilities within yourself.
Protection: It can help to prevent negative energy from effecting you, and also help keep your thoughts from turning negative.  (emotionally beating yourself up?) It is also a very grounding stone.
Insight: Its mirror like surface reveals its special ability to act as a mirror and help you see your own flaws honestly. It doesn't abandon you there, but will also provide insight into correcting those flaws.
Green Obsidian is particularly useful to finding release from people who try to "hook you " or draw you into their personal crises, and redirects their pulling, draining energy to the unlimited field of White Light, giving them access to their own healing, without needing to draw energy from you.
If you have a lot of people who constantly come to you for aid, wearing Green Obsidian will give you an immediate sense of lightness and freedom are it redirects these energies away from you.

Physical:

Relieves pain, Circulation: its energies can help those hands & feet that seem to be constantly cold.

Quarts Crystal
Metaphysical;

The most powerful, versatile multi-purpose healing stone! Particularly regarding self esteem, and healing the wounds of a neglectful or abusive childhood.
This stone will not allow you to wallow in self-pity over that which you can not change!  It amplifies the energy of all other stones and increases your emotional energy.
I call this the poor mans Diamond, because it is so rich in every way except material value.
Amplifies, focuses, stores, transforms, energizes. Perfect for focusing affirmations and prayers. Stimulates psychic perception.
Teaches each person at their own level, and at their own speed. Empowers. Attunes to all chakra's, all signs, and all numbers.
Recalls forgotten memories, solves problems, dispels negativity, finds capabilities we thought we had lost.
This stone amplifies prayers, wishes and positive visualizations.   Keeps you in touch with your spiritual side, and reminds you that you  are a spiritual being, having a human experience.   All spiritual pursuits can be stimulated and amplified using this stone's energy. It helps you to be receptive to higher guidance.
Easy to cleanse, store information or energy in, program or amplify energy and heal with. It can both draw and send energy. Powerful clear ones open Crown Chakra, good for meditation, sending or receiving guidance. Stimulates natural crystals in body tissues and fluids to resonate at new healing frequency.  Works with all chakra's and master gland.

Keywords:

Communication, wisdom, clarity of thought, intuition, general healing, memory, meditation, transformation, creativity, balance, awakening, cleansing, pureness of heart, intention, higher consciousness, positive thoughts, harmony and love.

Physical:

Supplies energy; reduces fever, swelling, nausea and diarrhea.

Three candles for ritual. A crystal for every job...

ShanT's World.....passing through yet another story...

ShanT's World.....passing through yet another story...

There is a simple method for using crystals, that I use. Take your chosen crystal in front of you. Relax and take three deep breaths. Close your eyes and see your Crystal in front of you, but huge. There are steps going up to a door in the Crystal. You walk up those steps, and nock on the door. Someone will open up the door. It's the spirit of your stone. Ask if you can come in, and enter when he lets you. Inside you can start using and program the Crystal. I use one for meditation, one for Pleiadic Healing, one for Manna, etc. They are my good friends. Remember when finished to leave the space inside the crystal as graceful as you entered.

Remember to clean them regularly. I had a bad experience, when after 4 weeks the Crystal started back-firing. After absorbing a lot of negativity, it started radiating it.
Clean it through washing it for 3 minutes under the tap, leave it in a cup with salt water in front of your window at a fool moons night, or burry it for three days in your garden. Remember to keep in touch with your stones. They are your friends.

Initiate your candles by creating a little ritual with them. Wash them in esoteric oil, or anything that feels right to you. Watch out with painting them! The paint might lit fire!

I keep my crystals and stones in the box. It protects them and are taken out only for use. Different stones for different purposes. I keep precious stones in little bags. To keep stones and objects on my alter, I charge them for use as amulets. I give them for birthdays, or when I feel someone needs it.
Amulets are not very 'big' things. Your thought attached to anything charges. The more 'thought' and 'intent' you put in, the stronger. Keep your heart pure, your mind clean, and take care of your surroundings, and especially your family and friends!
It is of coarse advisory to get initiated, get introduced to higher frequencies... Like this...

The Dalai Lama is there too. I made this picture in Dharmsala. He waited for me to take this picture... Love and light to you, my friend.
Different objects for different meanings. As in the old days, before the decision to only worship one god, different aspects of man can be addressed to. The two African statues represent my parents, and parenthood. The different Buddha's for the people who gave them to me, and the inner peace and silence they represent. The pipe for smoking sage...

ShanT's World.....passing through yet another story...

ShanT's World.....passing through yet another story...

I use 'Florida water' for cleaning my or others aura,  and as an additive for a healing bath. Some stones are ready to be given away. Some bags of blue for coloring a healing-bath, and a necklace from a friend. I put things on my alter also for cleaning. When the shop and the owner, I bought something from, is not pure, I leave the thing next or on my alter for some time to change frequency...
Smoking sage is also cleaning the aura, and gives a little high. Use it in ritual to address spirit. The smoke can be coded, words can be taken into the air...
Incense. I use the classic tree incense. There is a great shop in Amsterdam that sells high quality incenses, oils and ritual candles. It's called 'de Poppen dokter' or 'Pontifex' in de Reestraat, Amsterdam (Phone +31 20 6265271)

I also use a bowl, for bathing and to put objects in, when I clean them with Florida water... This is a kalebas, given by a friend shaman Roy. Thank you Roy.

There is this story about a man I know. He was so involved with magic, he believed when the waters would rise, demons would make a raft appear out of nothing for him. He practiced sexual magic. One day I would come into his house, with an urge to tell him something. I had a Satori at the moment, and could see clearly what he was doing. I said to him it was like moving a spoon through a thick soup.

When practicing magic, You might think you are power-full, because you can move things, but behind the spoon, the soup just drops back in place. In the end, all is the same, and you didn't change! Because it is all about YOU! Abuse of power is because of fear! Go deeper into the fear and find your answers there. With practicing ritual in front of your altar, keep this in mind. The man his sun is psychotic, his marriage ruined, his next wife gone with half his money and his other kid. What great affirmations! Be aware.

I hope I inspired you in making your sanctuary with your own altar. Remember first there was the word, then creation. Thought is powerful, use it wisely.

May love and light guide you.
