About USS Iliad
The USS Iliad was commissioned by Starfleet on Stardate 36516.0 (2359) and was built by the Galaxy Class Starship Development Project on the Utopia Planitia Starfleet Yards on Mars. She was launched there on Stardate 52984.1 (December 2375) having taken only 16 years in construction, four less than for example the USS Enterprise. In fact, so sure were Starfleet of the success of the Galaxy Class project that Iliad was commissioned before the launch of the Enterprise.
Following her launch, she made her way to Starbase 32 in the Tarsan System where she joined up with her crew. However, for reasons documented elsewhere on this site, she remained docked at Starbase 32 for a while longer until she was stolen by her Commanding Officer.
