Home Leopold is a residence for elderly and chronically ill adults in Hoeilaart, Belgium.  Many of us pass it along the Ring on our way to Brussels. Some of the residents do not have family.  Once in a while, they could use a soft, furry cuddle.  In November, the Sharks brightened the residents' holidays by sharing stuffed animals with them, which they collected through our Pack.

The Little Sisters of The Poor help feed hundreds of homeless people in Brussels.  In December the Sharks ran a canned food collection through the Pack that helped to feed lots of the hungry people right here in our area.

Helping Others

"Try and leave this world a little better than you found it."  Mr. Baden-Powell, founder of Boy Scouts.

The folks in Romania we were able to help.

With the present chaos in the Balkan States, Romania slightly disappeared from the media interest.  Due to the installation of the present free market economy, the gap between the prices of the first necessary goods and the earnings of most people has become nearly unbridgeable.

The foreign aid diminished.  Some of the help committees phased out their projects.  The TV images of trucks loaded with provisions blankets and clothes, on their way to some adoption village are gone.   But the country still exists and the problems are huge.  They are still very short of provisions.  The shortage grows instead of decreasing.

The Sharks collected soap, shampoo, toothpaste and toothbrushes for the 300 children, all under age 10, who live in the village of Brindusa, during the month of March.  All goods collected were trucked to Romania in April.
