Let's Go Mets! August 13 - HOME GAME #60 vs Colorado Rockies (47-55)

Rookie Noah Syndergaard (6-6) goes up against Eddie Butler (3-9) as the Mets look for a sweep of the Rockies.

63-52 +4.5

Lets Go Mets! It was no mercy as the Mets pounded the Rockies to sweep all four games from Colorado. Noah Syndergaard gave up 2 first innings home runs to immediately put the Mets in a hole but it didn't last long. He never gave up another hit after the 2nd inning. The run barrage was led by Kelly Johnson (2 doubles, HR, 3 RBIs), Curtis Granderson (HR, 3 RBIs), Juan Lagares (HR, 3 RBIs), and rookie Michael Conforto (2 hits, 3 runs scored). The victory was their fourth straight, their seventh in a row at home and their 11th in 13 games overall.

I woke up by alarm clock early at 6am so I could get to JFK and pickup my long time friend and fellow Mets fan from Modesto Mike. Mike and I have known each other for many years. We've attended dozens of Mets games together in San Francisco both at Candlestick and AT&T Park. I'm excited that he chose to come visit for the weekend and get the home town experience of rooting for the Mets in New York.

Sitting with The7Line

This was the first weekday game that the 7Line has organized. I thought it would be a cool experience being in the 7Line for Mike at his first game at Citi (it was how I did my first game). Except the hot sun made it very uncomfortable after a very long run scoring 1st inning. We left the center field section and wandered around to the first base side standing room area and cooled off. Here in the shade there was a much better breeze and after flying all night from California, Mike didn't mind standing a bit. We eventually ended up beyond left field by the time the Mets were done pummeling the Rockies.

Retreated to the shade

The crowds at Citi are getting more vocal in their support of the Mets and not just in the 7Line Army, but throughout Citi Field on gameday. With Washington's loss to the Dodgers later in the day, the Mets have opened up a 4.5 game lead in the NL East, 11 games over .500 for the first time in 5 years.

"I'm going to reward our fan base because I'm going to tell you, the noise and enthusiasm ... it's really hard not to have some energy when you take the field right now," manager Terry Collins said of the Mets, who improved to 13-5 when drawing at least 36,000 fans to Citi Field. "We're playing well at home, and guys are excited about it."

Another Mets Victory!
