Thinking of Fall/Winter Shows

Back to Topic Index

Even though the temperature is hovering around 90 degrees, craft show exhibitors need to start thinking about the fall and winter shows.

There is still time left to book those show dates.  But what else should you have and do to be ready for the fall shows?

Extra things to have for outdoor September and October shows:

  • Extra weights, the fall winds can be stronger
  • Sand bags for display tables
  • Extra sweaters, long sleeve sweatshirts or blankets (should be in the display packs at all times)
  • Extra tie down cord or string to keep canopy flaps down

For indoor shows:

  • Check your lights.  (get new and extra light bulbs)
  • Sand bags for displays (crowds can get big in the fall and bump tables

For both fall and holiday shows, think about adding holiday decorations.  These could be found or grown items like pine cones, gourds, mums, pumpkins etc.  Holiday decorations can be swags of material in reds and greens. Red and green tables cloths, sleds, etc.  Look for holiday baskets now, so you aren't going crazy in a couple of months.  Garland, Christmas lights and bows are also good. Some indoor shows may require you to have a "carpet" for your booth.  Floor covers are light weight and fun to make and don't cost a lot of money.

Remember your booth should show your personality.  So decorate as you like.  The most important things to remember are, good lighting, color and a display that shows your soaps and is easy to put up.

Happy Crafting.
